"He was just fine yesterday! What the heck happened?" Alex muttered dejectedly,
"It's okay, sweetheart. It's not your fault," Mirabel cooed as she sat beside him, gently patting his shoulders,
Just then, the sudden footsteps of more than five policemen reverberated through the sitting room,
"Good day Mrs. Amelia Thornefield," One of the men greeted, his eyes moving around the room.
Amelia slightly nodded in their direction as she questioned what the ruckus was all about.
"We are here for Maid Rose," The man eagerly uttered,
Alex rose to his feet, his brows snapped together,
"Rose? What for?"
"We got a call from a witness in this house who confessed to having seen this Maid Rose Exit Late Thomas Thornefield's room late last night,"
Just as the man let out to the shock of everyone, Maid Rose stepped into the living room, clearly oblivious of what was going on and the allegations against her.
"She is Maid Rose, Take her!" Mirabel quickly emitted,
Immediately, the officer grasped a confused Maid Rose's hands and placed the handcuffs around her wrists.
"You are under arrest as the number one suspect in the death of Thomas Thornefield…"
"What?" Maid Rose gasped in shock, her face wearing a complete look of fright and panic,
She abruptly shifted her gaze to Mirabel,
"What did you do?"
"Well, I saw you walk out of his room so late last night, so I figured you might know what happened to our dear Grandpa,"
"What? Why are you lying??!" Maid Rose bawled,
"Let's go," The officer urged as he gently dragged Maid Rose and signaled for the other officer's aid.
"Officers…Hold on!... Listen to me…I didn't do it… she…" A terrified Maid Rose tried to defend,
"You have the right to remain silent, Madam. Or whatever words you say here will be used against you in the court of law," The officer charged and before Maid Rose could utter any more words, she was dragged outside to their van and they drove away with her.
With his brows still etched together, Alex turned to Mirabel who had suddenly begun whimpering behind him.
"Was that what all that was about last night?" He queried with worry,
Mirabel replied with a slow nod,
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"She was being so rude about it, I got scared. And I didn't realize what she had done until Grandpa's sudden death," She blubbered,
"It's okay now," He soothed and embraced Mirabel in a tight hug,
With a big empathetic smile, Amelia moved to gently tap her back, "Oh, sweetheart. Thank you for caring and I'm so sorry for what happened,"
"It's okay, mother. I will do anything to make my Alex smile again," Mirabel uttered, using her hands to dramatically dry her crocodile tears.
They moved to settle down on the couch.
"Your love for my son is just the best kind," Amelia beamed,
"Absolutely, Mother. I can't wait to legally be his wife. We should get married soon," She incurred excitedly but immediately had to bring her behavior down a little when Alex and his mother remained silent.
"Okay, …um," Mirabel stood up, she gave Alex a quick kiss on his cheek,
"I will see you later, I have a quick meeting to attend. Stay strong for me, hubby,"

It was finally D-Day.
What would she do if she got there? She didn't know… But there was always a starting point, right?
'I will figure it out,' Caily nodded to herself.
Her hand tightly gripped her luggage.
"Nervous for your first flight out of the country? Relax, bestie," Emily cooed, Caily responded with a smile and they both headed for the checking point.
They were almost halfway there when a loud voice called behind them,
"You are running away already?" It was Mirabel.
She stood there, in a bright red short body-con dress, clutching a CHANEL flap bag.
"And who the fuck are you?" Emily spat,
"Oh, take a chill pill, bestie. I'm not here for you, " Mirabel said back.
She headed towards them.
Caily snarled as she questioned why she was there, but a sly Mirabel brushed it off with a giggle,
"You should be with Alex right now, he…" Caily sounded worried,
"Oh, just leave him to me. Don't butt in, and forget about him already, loser. He is mine now and I decide what to do with him," Mirabel proudly cut in between Caily's words,
"Bye now. My sister-in-law arrives soon," Mirabel emitted and immediately sashayed away.
Caily watched her go as she wondered if her words about Scarlett Thornefield were true.
Was she coming back to the country?
Obviously because of her Grandpa's death.
Caily shook her head, pushing the thoughts away, and resumed heading to the checking point with Emily.

Mirabel stood agitated as she awaited Scarlett Thornefield's arrival.
She had done more than just frame Maid Rose for the death of Grandpa Thomas, she had also called Alex's only sister, Scarlett, who was by far older than him and also had her eyes on the T&D food-producing company.
It was not news that the siblings hated each other and were avid competitors for the company, All she did was to inform Scarlett to fasten the process so she could get just what she wanted.
The last time they had a head fight over the company, Grandpa Thomas had interfered and handed the company to Alex, even though Scarlett was his big sis.
Mirabel's heart leaped when she sighted Scarlett.
"Miss Scarlett. I am your pick-up. You are welcome to Crystal city," She excitedly released to Scarlett who only stared at her confusingly,
"Pick-up? I didn't ask for a pick-up," Scarlett rebuked,
"I'm Alex's fiancee, actually. I just thought I might be of help to you," Mirabel added,
"My brother is engaged? I thought he was married already? Hold on… you were the one that called me?"
Mirabel barely clapped her hands in response with a giggle,
Scarlett examined her for a few minutes.
She released a scoff and gave a little affirmative nod as she slid her luggage over to Mirabel to hold.
Scarlett walked away while Mirabel was behind, awkwardly struggling to get a good grasp of the luggage,
"I'm sure you are aware of me and Alex's relationship. So if you are helping me, what does that mean?" Scarlett queried a panting Mirabel after she had barely managed to catch up with her,
"I just want the best for you both," Mirabel curtly replied,
In her mind, she cursed at Scarlett and eyed her repeatedly.
Mirabel was overly annoyed that Scarlett was already treating her like a slave.
'You just wait and see,' She fumed in her thoughts, agreeing within herself that if Scarlett failed to do as she expected, it would be easier to just kill her off…
