Chapter 2 - Li Xian joins the Invincible Imperishables

Edwin Godwin interrupted Li Xian's thoughts as he said to him, "It is most fortunate for you that we have found a fellow human in this dark woods. But it is also unfortunately for us because now we have to take care of you. Where exactly are you from? You are a native around here?"

Ellis frowned as the bluntness of Edwin Godwin, "Look at his robe. He doesn't look like a savage or a barbarian. How can he be a native from around here?"

Jump smirked as he stared at Li Xian's clothing, "It looks like he hasn't bathed for a long time."

Li Xian: …

I didn't bath for 3000 years.

But he did not say it aloud as he did not want to alarm them of his near immortal life span. Also, he was not familiar with this world that he was in.

Li Xian said with a sigh soft, "I am not from around here. And I can't remember where I am from."

He had answered as safe as possible.

Edwin Godwin frowned, "Maybe he is an evil sorcerer that is only pretending to be a vulnerable weakling so that he will jump upon our backs when we least expecting it."

Ellis hit him on his metal chest with a soft punch, "I've told you earlier that he has no evil aura on him. As a paladin, surely you can sense good or evil too as well."

Edwin Godwin shrugged his shoulders as he grumbled, "These damn sorcerers are able to conceal their auras."

Jump nodded, "I totally agree with Edwin. And he is talking strange earlier."

Ellis asked him with an unpleasant look, "How is he talking strange?"

Jump said without hesitation, "He doesn't know my Sacred Arms of the Dragon Slayers Order. Everyone knows my order but not him. Isn't it strange? If he isn't a savage or a barbarian, how is it possible for him not to know my order?"

Ellis gave him a look of disbelief, "Just because he did not know your order, you think that he is not to be trusted?"

Jump said weakly, "I didn't say that."

Then he quickly turned to ask Brute the Goblin Slayer, "Brute, what do you say?"

Brute just shrugged his shoulders and did not say anything. It was hard to see his expression too since he was wearing a helm that covered his entire head and face.

Fiona Brightleaf chuckled, "Brute isn't interested in anything except goblins."

Edwin Godwin said, "Now that he is revived, our responsibility to him has also ended and we can now depart."

Ellis hummed to him, "You call yourself a paladin? And you want to abandon him in this dark woods?"

Edwin Godwin answered her calmly, "I may be a paladin of the True Faith but I can't save everyone at the same time. I've already done my part for him and that is to safeguard him while you are treating him. Now that he is up, my part has also ended."

Jump said, "We can put this to a vote. I am for Edwin that we can leave him alone now."

Ellis hummed, "I vote for him to stay."

Fiona Brightleaf smiled, "I vote for him to stay too."

Edwin Godwin, Jump: …

"The votes are even..." Edwin groaned.

Ellis turned to smile at Li Xian, "Why don't we ask him if he is willing to stay or not?"

Li Xian was about to tell them that he ought to be on his way when his stomach was suddenly frowning.

He was quite startled as he had not eaten for the past 2000 years. In fact, as a cultivator, he could sustain himself with the profound energies alone after he had attained the golden celestial body.

Ellis giggled softly when she had heard his stomach, "Why don't you join our party? I can provide you with some bread."

Edwin Godwin frowned immediately, "Bread?! Do you know how precious bread is. Just give him some iron rations. It should be enough to sustain him until we drop him in the nearest settlement."

Li Xian said nonchalantly, "I don't mind eating the iron ration."

Edwin Godwin nodded and said, "See! He doesn't mind at all!"

Ellis cursed something under her breath.

Edwin Godwin then pointed at their baggage that were on the ground, "From now onward, you will be our party's baggage carrier until we reach the nearest settlement."

"No problem," Li Xian said without any hesitation.

Edwin Godwin then said, "I am the party's leader as well as the hero of the party. We are adventurers. And the name of our adventurer band is called the Invincible Imperishables."

Li Xian weakly nodded.

Fiona Brightleaf said unhappily, "Don't you feel that the baggage is a little too many for a skinny man like him to carry?"

Li Xian smiled, "It is really no problem at all."

And he had suddenly lifted five heavy baggage on his back.

This stunned and startled everyone in the party who were all staring at him with disbelief.

Even Brute the Goblin Slayer was appraising Li Xian all of a sudden as he said, "Young man, you're quite strong."

Li Xian smiled, "I am also quite good with the sword too. I may be able to help the party when you need me."

Edwin Godwin chuckled, "This is just a fool's talks. Do you know how many years of sword practice that is needed to become a sword master? I've been practicing my sword since I was a 3-year-old and I can't even reach the grandmaster level yet. And…"

He turned to smile at Li Xian, "And I don't see that you have a sword with you. A swordsman will never leave his sword."

Li Xian sighed softly, "I've lost my divine sword during my ascension. That's why."

Edwin Godwin laughed aloud, "Divine sword? Ascension? Li Xian, you aren't a madman, right?"

Li Xian smiled, "I am actually a sane young man."

Edwin Godwin laughed, "I think you are a humorous young man instead."

Jump had cut in to say to Li Xian, "Anyway, welcome to our party. But let me warn you first. You've better don't have any funny designs or interests in our party's maidens…"

Ellis angrily said, "Jump, what do you mean by that?"

"That's right," even Fiona Brightleaf was saying the same as well.

Jump said solemnly, "He is a stranger and we have no idea about his background. Maybe he is a sorcerer or a charmer, we never know. It never pays to be so trustful of strangers in these times of troubles."

Li Xian said, "Don't worry. I won't shown any interest in them or any maidens. After all, a maiden will only slow down the speed of my sword."

Ellis, Fiona Brightleaf: …
