Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: New Recruits

"Listen everyone, there are new recruits joining us. Few of the students who participated in yesterday's match and lost were admitted into the military school. The school board couldn't watch them return home with such unique abilities and fighting skills." Said Skylar Vox.

Immediately after that announcement, buzzed bursted out from the students.

"Huh?"

"They're really going to bring some of them back?"

"But this haven't happened before." Said the students.

"I'm pretty sure my girl will make it back, she fought fiercely against her opponent. If not for luck, her opponent wouldn't have won the match." A female student grinned among her new roomies. Many others said the same thing, while others prays for who is to come and go.

On the other hand, Sonic doesn't even care who come or goes. He had never knew any of them in the first place.

Seconds later, Skylar Vox gave another announcement.

"Training will begin from next week, so you all can do whatever you like: go outside, have fun, visit any department of your choice. And for those of you who are injured, you can visit the school clinic to recover your lost Stamina."

Sonic wasn't too concerned about his stamina; his main focus was the library and the book in that glass box. If trainings are starting from next week, that means there won't be anything Extraordinary to do, he thought. To Sonic, maybe doing well than everyone else might be considered an extraordinary act, and will be rewarded a Coin each time he does that, but he never knew he wasn't even slightly close to what was considered extraordinary in the school.

After Commander Skylar Vox was done talking, the new recruits walked inside. Among them, Sonic saw his yesterday's opponent as well, Rony.

"Really? Do they have to bring him back as well?" Sonic muttered in anger. "I guess I would've damaged him beyond fixing, maybe the, the military school won't consider him a unique ability user." He added with a bittered tone.

Just then, Sonic's system echoed loudly.

< Hey Slayer. Slow down with your words. I think you're becoming more of a Dark Slayer than I thought >

"Huh? I'm I?" Sonic questioned his system.

Come to think of it, before becoming a Slayer, he haven't imagined hurting some, left alone beyond fixing. Of maybe that's because no one has pieced him off like Rony and his friends did, Sonic thought.

After the announcement, Everyone else left the hall, but the newly recruited students remained to get few informations about their staying in the school.

Sonic immediately returned to the Library, and to his surprise, there was no one else except him.

He believed that most students had gone to the game world, indoor training hall, gym, or canteen.

Well, since he was the only one in the library, he decided to take a good look around as he didn't get the chance to earlier.

He approached a particular shelf that had several books about Dark Slayers, and luckily for Sonic, most of the books were not locked. He didn't know much about Dark Slayers until recently, so he picked one of the books and headed to a table to start reading.

Just as Sonic opened the book, his inspection skill activated again.

< Book name: The Dark Slayer's Slaves >

< Setting: Parallel world >

< Plot: Rebellion of a human slave against his Dark Slayer's Master >

< Reality: 5% >

Sonic was beginning to fall in love with his inspection Skill. He thought the ability only worked on living things, but now he knew that the ability works on objects as well. The inspection skill allowed Sonic to learn major details about the book. He now knew what the book was about and its realism, which was low.

Sonic walked back to the shelf and picked a few more. This time he didn't have to bring them to the table to read; he just needed to inspect them to determine how much he could benefit from them. After inspecting many books about Dark Slayers, Sonic didn't find any one with more than 10% reality on them. This means that all the books were of made up stories.

But just as Sonic was about to lose hope, his gaze fell on a book at the last minute. He pulled out the book and read the words on it slowly.

"Journey to become a Dark Slayer" it said.

Sonic quickly remembered the system telling him that he was on a journey to become a Dark Slayer, so maybe the book might be helpful, but only if it's not a made up story like the rest. He wondered, hoping it wasn't.

He decided to inspect it as well to determine how much of the book was real, and the result Sonic got was far more than he had expected.

With the holographic screen displaying on his face with the bold details, he read out word after word.

< Name: Journey to become a Dark Slayer >

< Setting: Dark Planet >

< Plot: The Z-Slayer >

< Reality: 90% >

"A 90 percent realism? Wow! I'm definitely digging into this." Sonic said in excitement.

'But If the book is about the journey of a Dark Slayer, then who is 'The Z-Slayer?' Sonic thought.

He was so excited that he could finally get to know a lot more about Slayers. He walked towards the table and began reading pages after pages.

After hours of reading, Sonic happened to come across a particular section that mentioned the Z-player, exactly what he was more curious about.

Just when he decided to read further, a familiar student rushed into the library, soaked in his own blood. It was Ethan Leroy again, the same boy who Sonic almost died for, and yet couldn't remember him.

Immediately, Sonic saw Ethan Leroy, he rushed to him and tried to ask about what happened, but Ethan collapsed and passed out. Right in that instant, Ethan's suit started gleaming black. And Just then, a notification popped up in front of Sonic.

< Inspection In use >

< Name: Ethan Leroy >

< Low on health points >

< Health Points : 3 of 100 >

Sonic immediately carried Ethan in his arms and rushed him outside the library. But he didn't know where the school clinic was located because during the tour, Sergeant Creed didn't take their group there.
