Chapter 14 - Chapter 14 The Library

The book Sonic saw was in a glass box among few other books in the library. Sonic wondered what the book was all about. Or maybe the book could tell him more about Dark Slayers, and since the book's title was 'My Dark Slayer System', maybe it could even tell him few more things he didn't know about his system.

Sonic pondered if every Dark Slayer has a system that talks to them in their voice. Sonic was now getting use to the system voice speaking now and then, though he is still slightly startled whenever the system speaks without him asking.

Soon, Sonic realized that his system wasn't saying anything about that Dark Slayer System Book he was looking at. This means that the system was also clueless about the whole it.

As lots of thoughts nagged on Sonic's head, soon, he felt a warm hand resting on his left shoulder.

"Hey kiddo. Which of this books caught your attention here?"

Without looking, Sonic knew it was Sergeant Creed, recognizing his gentle voice.

With a stuttering voice, Sonic spoke one word before another in a seconds gap. "Sir, all of them did." Said Sonic, not trying to reveal that he was after the Dark Slayer book.

However, what Sergeant Creed said next kept Sonic in disorientation.

"Kiddo, all the books in this glass are all children stories. But come to think of it, I wonder why the military school is keeping them locked up here." Sergeant Creed stated.

"What?!" Sonic grumbled silently. "How can he call such books children bedtime stories." He wondered, but kept all the questions to himself.

"Does the title 'My Dark Slayer System' sounds like a child's story to him?" Sonic pondered even more. But then Sergeant Creed said something else, this time, his words left Sonic speechless.

"Kiddo, do you see the first book on the glass?" Sergeant Creed asked Sonic, pointing at the same book that Sonic had been staring at before he walk up to him.

"Yes I see it sir." Sonic replied with a shaky voice.

Even since he discovered that he was in a journey to become a complete Dark Slayer, his heart kept racing at the mention of Dark Slayer.

"Kiddo, I've read that book before." Sergeant Creed said.

Sonic was dead curious to know what the book talked about, but fear couldn't allow him say a word. But luckily, Sergeant Creed answered his question.

"Kiddo, that book is a fairy tale about a young princess who got lost in a wonderland. Haarh," Sergeant Creed laughed. "At the ending I realized it was actually the story the 'Alice In Wonderland'. I could have tell from the tittle though, but since it was locked up here, I thought maybe it was a different story."

Sonic became totally speechless as he wondered if Sergeant Creed was actually talking about the same book he was looking at. Even though inside the book talked about a popular fairytale, but how was he supposed to know that from outside the book. The name of the book didn't sound like what he just described.

"Sorry for the spoilers kiddo, I just couldn't help it. But reading 'Alice in another land' is a complete wait of time.

"What?" Sonic barked inside his thoughts.

'Was Sergeant Creed talking about a different book?' Sonic wondered. But looking at the rest of the books, none of them seemed to be anything that is titled as ',Alice in another land'

Sonic wanted to ask Sergeant Creed which book he was actually talking off, but before he could finish his question, his system finally spoke up, clearing the misunderstanding between Sonic and Sergeant Creed.

< Slayer, the book is cloaked > said the system.

"What?" Sonic asked inwardly. "What do you mean 'cloaked'?"

Behold, Sonic and Sergeant Creed were looking at the same book, but they both were seeing different books.

To Sergeant Creed, the name of the book was 'Alice in another land', but for Sonic who could actually see the true identity of the book was seeing 'My Dark Slayer System'.

"I don't understand! You dumb system, will you explain what is really going on?!" Sonic barked at his system, as he grew impatient.

Soon, his System finally spoke up again.

"Slayer, what is written in the book isn't what the humans sees. So maybe only Slayers can see it's true identity. I can sense a Slayer energy around the book, so probably it was written, or owned by a Dark Slayer." The system explained.

'Now it makes sense why Sergeant Creed was wondering why such book was here. Maybe who ever kept it stored here know of it's true identity as well', Sonic thought.

"Wait! What if there's another Slayer in disguise here?" Sonic pondered as his heart skipped a bit.

"Or is that camouflaged female fighter from the entrance exam a dark Slayer?" Sonic pondered again with a raising heartbeat.

"Can I look at it?" Sonic asked.

Sergeant Creed made a puzzled expression before responding. "Well... you're free to look at it when you unlock the box."

"Unlock? Why is it locked? I thought you said it's a children's bedtime story?" Sonic tried to use Sergeant Creed's words against him, but still didn't get a luck on that.

"Kiddo, every book you see inside any glass boxes in this library are either rare or one of a kind. But I believe with 10 Coins, you can unlock this glass and have access to all the books it contains.

Sonic grinned and looked at his wrist, and luckily for him, he haven't spent a single point out from him ten points giving to him yesterday. With determination and confidence, Sonic spoke up. "I have 10 points, so that means I can unlock the box, right?"

Sergeant Creed chuckled when he heard Sonic referring to the points that the school gave to students daily. "Son, I said Coins, like physical gold coins, not Points." He responded.

"Gold coin? Where or how can we get such Coins Sir" Sonic asked frustratedly.

"It's not easy to get your hands on these Coin, as they're rewarded to a student who does something extraordinary." Said Sergeant Creed, grinning as he walked away to fill other students in on any questions they have to ask.

"Something Extraordinary?" The word resonated in Sonic's head. "I wonder what is considered extraordinary in a school like this?" Said Sonic as he became more curious about what was written inside the book.

After viewing the library, they visited three other departments, which included the canteen, the museum, and lastly, they returned back to the Vast hall they sparred for an lost.

Five hours later, the whole tour ended, and Skylar Vox called all of them to gather once again, preparing an announcement to make. Some of these announcements didn't end well with Sonic though.
