Chereads / The Villain's RE:Life / Chapter 38 - Resonance Convergence

Chapter 38 - Resonance Convergence

-Nine Years Post Saturation Completion. CONT.-

The invasion of Earth was something that neither the planet nor its people would ever recover from. Millions of High-Delta Rankers and monsters overran everything, and less than 0.1% of the planet's rapidly dwindling population had the power to stand against the invading forces.

In a few short months, Earth had become one giant, apocalyptic battleground, with Earthlings being on the losing side of the one-sided war.

Still, that didn't mean we as a planet were completely useless; true heroes rise to the occasion, and among those leading the charge against the invading force were Emilia and Brenden, newly evolved to C4 Hyumuns and Ranked up to Zeta.

They weren't alone either; 18 beings from different races had reached the Zeta Rank and were giving it all to take back the lands that once belonged to them; however, it was too little too late.

Those whom the Alien Race …known as the Lagathions, didn't instantly kill were enslaved and used to either mine resources or become Cattle.

And this was the situation of Earth…while I was trapped in a hell unlike I could have imagined.

-10 Years Post Saturation Completion.-

Earth has lost the war…that was the thought of every Earthling as the original 18 Zeta-Rankers fell to a mere five. We weren't ready, we didn't listen…we should have been better.

The biggest reason for our loss was Earth's upgrade to Zeta Grade, which invited even more forces from other Alien Races, all of which were stronger than the last, and we came to learn that our planet was vastly superior when it came to natural resources than a good bulk of our universe.

Scarily enough, although the planet no longer belonged to us, and a large-scale war occurred both on the planet and off for control over Earth, there were still well over 100 million Original Earthlings with varying levels of power alive.

Some were villains, some former heroes, and race no longer mattered; all that mattered was we originated from Earth, and that caused us to band together; the simple act of doing so…triggered a shocking response from Arkadia.

For the first time ever, it reached out to Every Earthling and offered them a chance…to be better, to have a proverbial Do-Over, and this chance was in the form of an ungodly expensive item.

[Shop: Zeta Rank]

[Zeta Rank: Miscellaneous Items Shop]

{Resonance Convergence Pill (???) =  = 1000 High-Zeta Coins}: *Limited to 5000 units, one per User, Only available to Earthlings. Multiple restrictions apply; read the description carefully.*

In a world where resources were already hard to come by, to get 1000 High-Zeta coins was virtually impossible, yet within three months, 3502 of these pills vanished from the shop.

Along with the loss of these magical pills, whose effects could only be viewed as mystical and mysterious, panic began setting in for those who couldn't afford one.

At first, it wasn't a big deal, and although Arkadia had never once lied to us, the description of the item was beyond farfetched. What it boiled down to was after you took the pill, upon death, your soul and memories would be sent back in time, the window being 1989 to 2024, allowing you to become your younger self.

As the saying goes, it's important to read the fine print, and oh man, were there a lot of stipulations added to the mysterious Resonance Convergence Pill.

As I stated before, the biggest effect the pill had was upon death; your soul and memories would be sent back in time, between 15 years at the minimum and 50 years at the maximum, allowing you to become your younger self.

That Alone was a HUGE thing to achieve for Arkadia; however, setting aside the infinite possibilities presenting themselves by going back in time, there were SEVERAL different clauses…all of which had varying degrees of what could only be considered punishments from Arkadia.

(1)       The effects of the Resonance Convergence Pill will only activate upon the User's death.

(2)       The User will retain all their memories up to the moment of death, and there will be no alterations.

(3)       There will be a few benefits upon returning to the past, but the majority of which will be random and will not be disclosed until relocation to the past.

(4)       The user/users of any Resonance Convergence Pill can not disclose any information pertaining to future events to ANYONE apart from other users who have taken an RC-Pill.

(5)       Remember, any changes to the timeline will have underlying effects ranging from small things to events of colossal proportions.

(6)       The purpose of this pill is to give Earthlings a Fighting Chance to defend themselves and their planet from outside forces.

(7)       The RC-Pill will bring your soul and memories back to a time before the descent of Arkadia, allowing you a chance to be prepared for the future to come.

(8)       Everyone who uses a Resonance Convergence Pill Is guaranteed to have the Alpha Version of Arkadia available upon returning to the past.

(9)       The Date of a user's arrival in the past is completely random and will be between the years 1989-2024

(10)       Death…

(11)       Death…

(12)       Failure to…

Needless to say, there was a lot of information to absorb in the description for the RC-Pill, yet that didn't stop those with enough funds from doing something drastic.

In the first week after the pill appeared in the Arkadia Shop, the suicide rate spiked temporarily due to the rich not wanting to waste another second in the hellacious landscape brought about by the alien invasions.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and eventually, by August of 2039, less than a hundred of the RC-Pills remained within the Arkadia Shop.

Meanwhile, in Brenden's mansion, my brother and sister-in-law were in the midst of a heated argument.

"Brenden! What if he isn't in that Instance? You've sold off everything we own, all on a slim chance of success." Emilia screamed as she looked around the empty building, which had been their home for years.
