Ana's body slightly shook on its spot on the ground. The mana flowing inside her body was turning black in color.
Demonic mana slowly surrounded her body, extinguishing the normal blue mana present normally around humans.
Gritting my teeth, I realized that the demonic energy from her body was traveling towards the egg. The egg received the demonic energy, thus explaining the appearance of the messages.
"How did this happen?" I questioned Inari.
"She is currently in a traumatic state. She is fighting against her inner demons to be specific. If her willpower is strong, she will emerge victorious and return to normal."
"And if she doesn't win?" I already knew the answer to this but still wanted to hear it from Inari's mouth.
"Then she will most likely turn into a demonic being. That girl is part human." Inari's eyes darkened. "She has been present on Earth for seventeen years and somehow went under our radar."
"You guys keep a check on such things?" I asked in a genuinely surprised tone.
"Beings like Ana suffer on realms that haven't been introduced to mana. We take them away from their homes and shift them to some other realm. We usually detect them easily but somehow, we never found her."
"Oh…"
I remembered mentioning that Ana developed demonic power but never dived into detail about her character. Very few lines in the novel mentioned her race and origin.
|| Ana realized that she never really fit in with humans. Only after unlocking her powers did she realize her true nature.
Ana was supposed to be a demon and she accepted that. Now she would obtain revenge on the same society that shunned her. ||
These were the words that mentioned Ana talking about her demonic energy. I never included anything race-related in it.
In fact, it was only after seeing the question marks on her status screen that I realized that Ana was only half human.
I wondered if the Entertainers never found Ana because of the plot hole I left in the novel…
< Michael, this world is not just a simple novel that Michale wrote. Michael might have written about it but not everything here proceeds the same way it was written. These are real people, not some characters being controlled by an author. >
Blue's words hit me hard. What he said was true. I might have written about the characters but didn't depict their lives.
The characters didn't appear from thin air. They lived their own lives before being thrown into this apocalyptic world.
'Blue, can I help her?'
< I think Michael already knows the answer to it. The answer is yes. As for how to do it, the answer is in front of you. >
'You can say things in a less roundabout way you know.'
< Consequences, Michael, consequences. >
'Fuu…'
I sighed mentally at his reply. Indeed, consequences prevented a lot of things from happening.
"Inari, the viewers aren't able to see this area, right?"
"No, they are blocked from seeing this area. I don't want anyone to know this location and directly influence it." Inari shook her head. "How did you know that though?"
"I will explain it some other day. Currently, I have to do something important."
My eyes followed the chain connecting me with the egg. A similar kind of chain, albeit a bit thinner, connected the egg with Ana's body.
Our mana traveled through these chains and provided energy to the egg.
+
Current energy:
- Pure energy: 40%
- Evil energy: 35%
+
'Hope this works.'
I sat down on the ground next to the egg and closed my eyes. I reached out for the connection linking me with the egg.
In just a few seconds, I managed to get a hold of the link between me and the egg. With the help of the link, I decided to reach out to Vin.
Both of us were connected to the egg which connected us with each other. I could use the connection to help Ana with her trauma.
< Michael should open his eyes. >
I immediately opened my eyes and saw a window hanging in front of my face.
[ Would you like to enter the trauma world of Anabelle?
Yes/ No
Warning: You cannot exit the world until Anabelle's trauma is resolved. There is also a chance that you might face severe depression after this. Proceed carefully. ]
I ignored the warning given at the bottom and chose the yes option.
My eyes rolled back in my head as my consciousness was transported from my body. My vision blackened, another thing I was used to.
My vision returned and I found myself standing in the back alley of some fast food restaurant. Looking around with a confused expression, I started moving.
Heaps of trash were present throughout the alley, indicating that I was present in a slum or poor area. It was currently night time and the alley was deserted. This felt like the set up for a crime scene.
"Maybe some light would help." I extended my hand, hoping to summon some flames.
That's when I realized that things were wrong. I no longer felt mana flowing inside my body and couldn't use my skill.
I tried to message Inari about this but a system window prevented me from doing so.
[ You are currently present inside the trauma world of a person. ]
[ You are present as a 'Viewer'. You can't use any of your skills or interfere with what is happening. You can only observe things. ]
"Oh…"
The words made sense. A trauma world was basically a replay of what took place in a person's life.
Due to various reasons, other people can view trauma worlds but they can't do anything inside them.
Inside a trauma world, a viewer only saw the events replaying in an order. If they managed to find the person whose trauma was being displayed, a viewer could communicate with them and help them.
The only reason I appeared inside the trauma world was to talk with Anabelle. If I managed to communicate with her, I might be able to help her.
After all, I might be the only person in the world who understood her…
"Something should be happening soon."
Since I was about to watch the replay of a certain part of Ana's life, I decided to wait. Leaning against a wall in the alley, I patiently waited.
Just like I expected, things started to proceed.
"Run!"
Two shouts rose from the end of the alley opening towards the street. Two figures, one male and female came running inside the alley.
"Huh?"
I expected to see Anabelle there but instead, a pregnant woman and a husband came running into the alley. The woman was panting and trying her best to run.
She pushed a few strands of her brown hair off her face and sighed. Her looks resembled the appearance of a part time actress even though she was pregnant.
'What is that?'
My eyes widened when I noticed blue sparks of mana flickering around the man's face and hands. His features resembled those of a model capable to charming people with a simple smile.
Perhaps…
"Do you think we can get away from them?" The women asked tiredly.
"Earth doesn't have mana yet. I can't change our appearances. If my abilities were present here, we could have won."
"Can't you leave me behind and run back to where you came from?" The women asked gently. "I can manage on my own. You need to save yourself, Earl."
"I can't do that, Amanda. They will take our child away and to save our child, I will let myself be imprisoned. After that, I will face all the consequences of running away from the fairy realm and my child will face them too."
"But you had no choice! They killed every single one of your kind!" Amanda protested.
A bitter smile appeared on Earl's face.
"There is nothing we can do about it."
Earl raised his head towards the sky, a defeated expression setting on his face. Blue mist swirled above him, slowly forming portals.
"The Entertainers are here and I am sure the fairy king and queen will be here too." Earl muttered with a rueful smile.
"Let's run. We need to leave." Amanda grabbed Earl's arm and tried to run. Unfortunately, the latter remained rooted to his spot.
"We won't escape. They have put a mark on me."
"But—
"Shh…" Earl put a finger on Amanda's lips. "The first time we met, I warned you that something like this will happen. My time has come now."
Tears appeared at the corner of Amanda's eyes. Earl wiped them off with his fingers before touching his wife's pregnant belly.
"It was a fun journey but my story ends here."
"Earl…"
Earl leaned forward and kissed Amanda. A flurry of blue sparks surrounded his entire body, turning him into a blue supernova.
A blinding flare went throughout the alley, illuminating the night sky. The couple vanished in the night sky after the supernova went off.
.
..
…
What just happened?
This was the first thought that appeared in my mind after the events transpired. I never knew that beings other races with magic secretly resided on Earth.
Earl must have tried his best to remain undercover considering how he managed to get a women pregnant and wait for the birth of his child.
"Earl was a fairy which means…" My voice trailed off as the portals in the sky illuminated.
But before I could see the person coming out from the portal, the world in front of my eyes started blurring.
The world spun around me, changing my environment. Once it stabilized, I found myself in a hospital room.
I saw a figure lying on the bed and a grim expression appeared on my face.
Amanda had given birth to her child yet she didn't look happy. Instead, tears fell down her eyes. A system window was open in front of her.
