Chapter 8 - BangKok's Compensation

At first, nothing happened for a few minutes and I felt like a dumb idiot.

It was as if the entertainer went ahead and thought "Meh, it's just a human. Not worth my time."

I was about to shout again when dark clouds suddenly gathered in the sky. Lightning flashed in the sky followed by the sound of thunder rumbling in the sky.

The clouds started to swirl, revealing the opening of a dark blue misty portal.

If dramatic and flashy entrances could receive a reward, the Entertainers would have many such rewards at their houses. On second thought, they actually did.

|| The Entertainers were like game show hosts on steroids and magical powers. Unlike the game shows, they loved collecting awards for themselves instead of giving them away to others. ||

'They sure are showoffs.' I rolled my eyes, wondering why I had made them such flashy creatures.

BangKok soon emerged from the portal with an amused expression on his face. The six-foot-tall entertainer had a mischievous expression on his face.

He flew towards the ground level but didn't step foot on it. His eyes, a shade of bright pink, were analyzing both me and Vin.

"How did you know that I could be summoned like that?" Bangkok asked curiously.

I suddenly covered my ears, wincing in pain. His voice felt like needles pricking every inch of my body.

A grin appeared on BangKok's face after seeing my reaction.

"Oops, forgot that you couldn't listen to my real voice. Let me put on the Earth filter."

Beings from one realm couldn't hear the voice of being from higher realms without being affected by it negatively.

Such voices were called True voices as they were only audible to creatures belonging to the same power level as the owner of the voice.

A lower leveled being would become deaf or brain-dead if they listened to the true voice of a higher being for a long period of time.

Smaller sentences would result in minor prickling sensations, body pain, and headaches.

"I can report you for that. I am sure Entertainment Inc. won't like to hear a complaint report on day one of the scenarios." I threatened.

Even though Entertainers were supreme beings who were allowed to do whatever they wanted, they were regulated by Entertainer Inc.

It was a separate body consisting of some of the strongest Entertainers that could easily match the level of the rulers of the Supreme planet. They ensured the rulers were upheld during the scenarios to ensure smooth operation.

Suddenly, Bangkok's arrogance vanished in thin air and was replaced by a grim expression. He set foot on the ground and stared directly into my eyes.

Both of us were the same height so we could easily see eye to eye.

"How do you know that? It hasn't been revealed yet."

"I have my ways. Anyways, I called you here to file a complaint." I replied casually while pointing towards the dead puppet's body.

In reality, Bangkok was at the lowest level of Entertainers who only looked over a certain part of the city.

Annoying him or scaring him wouldn't result in anything bad happening to me since many powerful Entertainers would take over in the future.

BangKok wasn't even mentioned much in the novels after he introduced the scenarios. Another Entertainer was actually responsible for covering the region where the MC and other main characters were present.

'Though I could try befriending this guy. It reminds me of a certain strategy that I read about during my reader days.'

BangKok turned around to look at the puppet's body and even he was surprised by it. A frown appeared on his perfectly white face as he scratched his head.

"What is a supernatural creature doing here?" He muttered. "This is quite a valid complaint. The streaming has not started yet since the first few hours are quite boring but this would have been interesting."

"So I take it you have no idea who caused this?" I sighed.

It was not unexpected for low level Entertainers to have no idea about certain things. They didn't have all the information in the world.

I was sure a major investigation would have to take place to find out the puppet master. Only the mana trail left by the puppet master could trace him.

"No, I will have to investigate this. Thank you for calling." BangKok thanked me.

"You are not going to leave just like that, are you?"

He coughed and floated in the air again. "I take it you want some compensation for this. I am going to offer a D-ranked skill to you. Wait, you don't even know about the ranking yet. Ugh…"

"Don't worry. I have played many video games so I can handle it." I offered.

BangKok narrowed his eyes. "Fine by me. She can also choose a skill too since she was affected by it too. However, she can only choose an F ranked skill."

Vin looked as if she didn't even expect to receive a skill. Well, it was good that she would receive one even though the number of useful F-ranked skills was low.

I was pretty confident Vin might find a skill that proved to be useful for her.

"Here, you both can choose from these skills." BangKok snapped his fingers.

Another window appeared in front of me with countless skills present on it. My brain was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of skills I was seeing.

There was no way that someone like me had written about these many skills. No creative brain could create that many skills.

To give you an idea, the window looked something like this.

===

Available D-ranked skills:

Search bar: ______

1. Small Explosion

32 Daddy Goes Dark

43. Rolling Roller

69. Hot Liquid Sh*t

===

Who the hell even came up with such skills?!

No, a better question was how someone developed these skills in the first place. What kind of secret hidden talent and activity needed to be done to create these skills?

Logically speaking, I could just go ahead and choose the Lie Detection skill since it was a sensible skill to have from the beginning.

It provided me with enough flexibility to question numerous people and obtain the truth from them. However, it had some limitations and counters that were easy to obtain.

Besides, there was a higher version of Lie Detection available that I could obtain later on.

'Come on, Michael. Think what you should choose.'

.

..

AHA!

The perfect skill to choose from the D ranked skills suddenly entered my mind. It was a really specific skill that could only be obtained by completing a quest in the future.

I chose the search bar option and entered the name of the skill, hoping it would be present on the list of skills.

Luckily, it showed right up.

"I decided what I am going to choose." I lifted my eyes and looked at BangKok.

"That was quick." The Entertainer was quite surprised by how quickly I had chosen a skill.

His eyes stared at the screen in front of me, his eyes widening slightly. The skill wasn't one I could have found by simply scrolling through the list.

"How do you know about that particular skill, human?"

"Sounds like a fun ability to have." I simply smiled.

It was clear BangKok didn't believe me. The number of the skill was in the five thousands. There was no way I could have found it this quickly unless I knew about it before.

"Fine, here." BangKok snapped his fingers for the second time.

The window in front of me was replaced with a new one.

[ Congratulations! New skill 'Gamer's Chatbox' has been unlocked. Your skill will be delivered in the next 24 hours. ]

===

Gamer's Chatbox(D)

- Allows the user to create a chatbox where they can invite people and privately talk with them. No one except the user and the members of the chatbox can view the details of the chatbox.

- Entertainers and beings from higher realms are prohibited from viewing the data as well. In case the chatbox is breached, most of the information will automatically be censored by the system.

===

This skill was particularly created by a woman with privacy issues. She had created this skill to prevent anyone from spying on her personal talks.

As for the censorship, it was something controlled by the Golden Scroll. The scroll bounded the entire universe with certain laws and governed it.

Even the beings of the Supreme planet were bound by these laws. The creation of the scroll made use of numerous objects present in the universe since its creation.

It was a complex topic that would appear quite later on. I didn't need to worry about it this early on.

"Thank you for the skill." I thanked BangKok.

The Entertainer observed me with a curious expression on his face.

I didn't want to raise too much interest but I wasn't planning on staying lowkey either. Staying lowkey would prevent me from obtaining certain benefits.

Not to mention that I was tired of lowkey characters. I knew how fun it was to hide your power and surprise everyone later on but sometimes it was taken to the extreme.

I would use my power in moderation to show that I am not weak but I wouldn't take it to the limit either.

"Hmm, you are quite unique. Let me check your status to see if you are that interesting." BangKok muttered after a few seconds.

BangKok, as you might have guessed, snapped his fingers. However, a frown appeared on his face. He snapped his finger once again, his frown deepening.

Oh boy, something was wrong.

BangKok's bright pink eyes fixated on me, curiosity clearly visible in them. The glow of his eyes was increasing with every passing second.

"You are more interesting than I thought. For some reason, your status doesn't exist in the database. I cannot check your status."
