Chapter 37 - First village

Glitch knew that the uneven distribution of hidden stats would continue even when rulers leveled up.

If leveling up 1 time gives 5 extra stats, then someone like a human ruler would get 1 stat added to all his hidden attributes. A balanced approach.

For him, he would get maybe 2 or some fraction of 2 stats added to strength and agility, while his other stats would get a low increase.

In the end, it was just a change in the distribution. Overall, all the rulers would gain the same total number of stats.

It was a vague theory developed by a group of players who did years of experiments within the game. No one was hundred percent sure about this method.

This stat distribution reminded him of his status. To get a better understanding of himself, he said, "Player status."

Ding!

The blue status screen popped up in front of him.

It was standard stuff, but he was a little surprised by the increase in his vitality.

If even his vitality increased, that only meant that his skill-based stats were extremely low. There was still a way to fix it, but right now, the biggest problem was his strength.

Apart from developing creatures in the space village, a ruler could also increase his strength by learning powerful skills and getting powerful sub-classes.

There were many examples where players alone were so powerful that they could fight against an army of summoned species. Kinda like a one-man army.

If there was something that he yearned for most, it was to achieve a level of personal power such that he could do similar things. All of this depended on finding good subclasses.

He stopped thinking about this stuff and focused back on the status panel.

His total summons was 100 right now, but he knew that for all the group rulers, it would increase to 1000. Though increasing the daily summons would be a headache.

He closed the status and started walking toward the village.

As he walked closer to the village gate, a few of the people started staring at him. He ignored them and continued walking closer to the village gate.

He could hear some gibberish sounds coming from their mouths as a few talked among themselves while pointing at him. For a moment, he thought of stopping, but then he noticed they did not look at him with scared or aggressive faces, but they had surprised faces.

As he walked closer to them, he understood they were talking about his lack of clothes. He relaxed a little and increased his speed while rubbing his arms, showing how cold he was feeling.

Soon, people lost interest in him, and with no problem, he entered the village.

In Universal Online, all players had this translation passive ability. It allowed players to understand one another and even understand most of the local species present in their area.

As he entered the village, he sensed a little rise in temperature compared to the outside. He looked at the thick stone wall. It might have some kind of insulation property that trapped the heat inside the village.

He focused on the building in front of him. The building designs were like the Star Village present in the trial.

He started roaming around the village, noting all the important things present in the village. While doing so, he made sure not to speak anything to any NPCs.

As this was his first village, he spotted many branch buildings of big organizations.

There was also a recruitment office for adventure guilds and the mage tower. He could change his class to hunter or adventurer to mage in these respective buildings.

He also spotted multiple spooky organizations, like thief groups, assassin guilds, and more.

In the corner of the market, there was also the Blacksmith Association, the Potion Master School, and more.

Even the small shops that sell food in the village were providing him with the opportunity to change his class to a baker or cook.

All these guys at least had some buildings where they operated. His mind became numb when he spotted a back alley full of beggars. It was a beggar association, even these guys offered classes like beggars, pickpockets, alcoholics, and even something like gamblers and more.

For a casual player, this was heaven, while a hell for someone like him.

The only saving grace was that none of the NPCs could force him to start class-changing quests unless he agreed to them in some way.

The best way to avoid them was to say no to all the things that you did not understand.

This village, though dangerous, could provide a special opportunity for rulers to build connections with some NPC organizations.

Building a connection with the NPC organization was one of the most important things for the ruler in the game world.

There were multiple ways a player could support his species in the game world, and one of them was to work with NPCs.

It had pros and cons, but to start using this method, he would have to reveal himself as a ruler.

Normally, he would never do that. Instead, he would try to hide his status as ruler as long as possible to avoid the gang's eyes. But with the possibility of a massive quest for group rulers, he decided to take some risks.

With that in mind, now he had to decide which organization he should start building his connections with.

He already had a perfect organization in his mind that could be a great boon in the long term. It would be tough to build a connection with that kind of organization.

He shook his head. It was better to try than to think.

With that in mind, he walked toward a rundown building present at the core of the village market.

It was the recruitment center for the information guild. As he walked into the building, a strong smell of alcohol hit his nose.
