"Hey, Aidan." Shouted Sofia from the school grounds when she saw Aidan standing at the entrance. She was waiting for him to come.
Aidan who was waiting at the entrance for James to come, as soon as he heard Sofia calling him, he ran to her.
"Hey, Sofia" he greeted her back.
"Where did you go without informing anyone yesterday night?" Sofia asked.
"I just wanted to buy something for my Dad, as he returned yesterday from work. I thought I would go buy his favorite food and go home." He answered.
"You would have told us about it. Or someone of us might have accompanied you." Said Sofia.
"That is the reason why did not tell you people about it. All of us were already tired. That is why I did not want to bother you all." Said Aidan.
"Give him a tight slap for that." Came a voice.
"Hey, James." Said Sofia.
"James.....please," said Aidan being helpless.
"What, please? You know how worried we all were. Especially your Mom and Dad." Said James.
"I am sorry. I will never do that again. OK." Said Aidan.
The bell rang indicating the start of classes.
"Guys, it's time. We should run to the class or we will be late." Said Sofia.
"Yeah, let's go." Said Aidan.
"Who comes last will treat us after school tomorrow." Said James and ran from there.
"Oh. That is not fair. You are cheating. You should have told us before you started running." Said Sofia and joined their little race.
"Hey stop, you cheater." Shouted Aidan and ran to his class behind them.
As they reached the class, they were shocked by the scene they encountered in front of their eyes. The scene of all their classmates being on the verge of crying made their heart wrench.
They did not know what was happening. As they stood still not knowing what to do. As soon as their teacher saw them standing at the door of the classroom, she asked them to get inside.
"Get in kids." She said.
They entered the classroom and silently went and sat in their places. The environment was very sad. The air was so heavy. All of them felt it.
James who could not stop himself from breaking this silence tried to ask what was happening.
"What is happening? Why are all so silent and almost seem to cry in no time?" asked James to Ken.
"Ma'am said that she is going to leave the school. Today is her last day with us. I feel so sad. She is the best teacher we had till now. I do not want her to leave us." Said Ken with sadness filled in his voice.
Their English teacher is one whom all the students in the school love. She was everyone's favorite. The way she cared for her students. The way she taught them lessons. The way she taught them how to live and care for others. She was the best teacher they all had till now in their life. No one wanted her to leave. And her leaving today itself was so shocking. They were not ready to take in this news right now.
All the students were so connected to her. Because she never treated them just as students. She treated them like her own kids. Everyone in the class was very connected to her. The way she used to not only took care of the studies but also guided them in every aspect possible.
"But why is she leaving all of a sudden? Is everything ok?" asked Aidan who heard what Ken said.
"Don't know. She did not say anything yet. She did not even tell that she was going to leave. It was one of our classmates who got to know that she was leaving while he was passing through the staff room. He overheard the teacher's conversation. And, that is how every one of us got to know that she is going to leave the school." Said Ken.
"That is so sad. If she goes, we will be losing a very good teacher and a guide." Said Sofia.
"My dear students. Please stop doing this. It will be very hard for me to leave like this." She said.
The students could not help but feel sad. Of course, they were going to miss the best teacher they got.
"We can not help it. But what might be the reason that she is leaving all of a sudden?" said Sofia.
"I will miss her." Said James and Aidan together.
As soon as the class was over, all the students followed her to the staff room.
"Students, you should not follow me. You still have classes. Go to your class." She said.
"Ma'am, could you please come along with all of us on lunch tomorrow?" asked all of the students as they all planned.
After thinking for a while, she said OK.
As the classes were over, Aidan and his friends went to their homes.
James and Aidan who were going walking to their home spoke to each other about what happened today. They were thinking about what might be the reason for their teacher leaving and did not even want to tell them about it.
Speaking about it they parted ways.
As soon as Aidan reached home. He saw his father sitting on the sofa as if he was waiting for someone.
"Hey, son. You came. Go, fresh up." Said his Dad.
"Yes, Dad. Do you have anything that I can help you with?" asked Aidan as his Dad made him rush. He felt that in his words.
"No. It is nothing like that. It is just I thought you might be tired after coming back from school. It might be tiring. Isn't it?" said his Dad.
"Yeah, Dad it is. I will go and freshen up." Said Aidan and ran to his room.
Mr. Johnson did not want to rush things and wanted to do things without letting anyone notice what was going on in his mind and what he was doing.
Aidan came down and had his snacks.
As Mr. Johnson was now going to call him.
"Bye Mom. Bye, Dad." Said Aidan.
"Where are you going Aidan?" asked Mr. Johnson.
"Dad, I am going to James's home. You bought me the video game yesterday, remember?" said Aidan.
"I will go and play with James. I told him about it and he wanted to see it." Said Aidan.
"Oh. Is it? Ok, come soon. Don't be late." Said Aidan's Dad.
"Ok, Dad." Said Aidan running out of the house with the video game set in his hands.
Aidan went to James's home. They played with the new Video game and had a lot of fun. They had so much fun that they did not even care to take a glance at the time.
It was already night and Aidan's father was waiting for his son very eagerly.
"James, what would you people like to have for dinner?" asked James's mother.
"Anything Mom." Answered James.
"What? Dinner? What's the time James?" asked Aidan.
As they had a glance at the time, it was when they got to know that it was late and Aidan had to leave.
"OK, James. I will leave. Mom and Dad might be waiting for me. Bye." Said Aidan.
"Bye Aunty. I will be leaving." He also wished James's mother.
"Have dinner and leave my boy." Said James's mother.
"Next time Aunty. I promise." Said Aidan and started running to his home.
"Where is this boy? He still did not come." Said Mr. Johnson.
"He might be coming. Don't worry. It's not even that late." Said Aidan's mother.
"Hey, Mom and Dad." Shouted Aidan as soon as he entered the house.
"Come son, let us have dinner." Said Aidan's mother.
"Yeah, coming Mom. I will wash up and come. Give me some time." Said Aidan and rushed to his room.
They had their dinner. Aidan was going to sleep and that's when Mr. Johnson called him.
"Son. Please come and help me find my file." Shouted Mr. Johnson from his room.
"Coming Dad." Answered Aidan and ran to his father's room.
"Yes, Dad. What you wanted me to do." Asked Aidan.
"Come, son. I have been trying to find my file and have not been able to find it anywhere. Will you please help me do that?" asked Aidan's father.
"Sure, Dad." Said Aidan.
"OK, I will find it here. You search for it near the table beside the bed." Said Mr. Johnson
"But how does it look and what is it about?" asked Aidan.
"Oh, it is a yellow file. You will know if you find it." Said Mr. Johnson.
Aidan started searching on the table near the bed.
"I did not find it here. Aidan, did you check the drawer?" Mr. Johnson asked Aidan.
"Yes, Dad. I am going to look for it in the drawer." Said Aidan.
As soon as he approached the drawer, Mr. Johnson could see the light coming from the drawer. He was shocked.
The book started glowing the moment Aidan went near it. 'This is it.', he thought.
