"What are you doing in my tent, Zemin?"
Caught red-handed, Zemin froze, frantically calculating his options. He could come up with a lie. Adia didn't appear too alarmed or suspicious yet—just confused.
'Why did she return early? Does that mean Danis is back, too?' They were on the same patrol today, after all.
Finally, Zemin stood straight and turned to Adia. Her tent had little in terms of things Zemin hadn't seen in her room while they still were cadets. And seeing how easily demons, including Angor, were to kill her only a few weeks ago, the chances of Adia being a spy were minimal.
Besides, lies sat badly on Zemin's tongue.
"Investigating, in case you are the spy Master Makhos is looking for," he said. "I don't actually suspect you! I just thought it'd be fair—and in the case my suspicions or lack of them are wrong, well, then I'd find something…"
"You what?!" Adia hissed.
