Zemin's attack hit Pale square-on. For an instant, Zemin felt the demon trying to fight it with his strange power. A flash of chill went through his veins together with a thought that Pale might still avoid the hit somehow.
Then a Void Portal opened around the demon, swallowing him whole. Pale didn't have even a time for any last screams—or if he had, then Zemin didn't hear them.
Zemin returned the entirety of his focus to his aching body. The Void System's voice and the ringing in Zemin's ears were the only sounds in the total silence that surrounded Zemin. He opened his mouth to take a breath, and couldn't find any air to inhale.
His eyes widened, but Zemin forced himself to avoid panic. He had at least a minute, maximum two, to get himself some air before he suffocated.
