Chapter 31 - A week of transition

The following week began to be hard for the old Admiral Jahve; he was the object of ridicule in many media outlets and the talk of the entire online community, and he even gained a large group of haters who asked that both his rank and position be removed. The rights he had retained in the army.

Director Kronos warned him sternly, and told him that the high command of the Navy would meet that same weekend to make a decision on the matter and that they would not tolerate any more madness or being less dressed as a Grand Admiral.

But the old man, instead of going into a fit of madness, as had happened on previous occasions, took it much more calmly. In fact, his first prediction would be that same Friday, with the hail that would devastate the empire. If he was right, what could they say? Rest of the army leaders?

However, for Eneas, it was a good time at the academy, in movement practices with Mecha, they began to do increasingly complex exercises; they no longer only moved, jumped or ran in a unidirectional way, but their movements through a circuit rehearsed for decades were leading them to a control point of the very high movement of the Cyclopes.

In military protocols, the week was based on a topic that Aeneas was extremely interested in: the exceptions and situations in which the cadets of the academy could, despite having to continue their studies, obtain a military degree.

Basically, in the regulations set for officers, it was indicated that any officer school cadet who entered into direct combat outside of the controlled practices of the academy would be granted a military rank depending on the year of study in which he or she was enrolled.

If it occurred before six months, they would have the basic rank of soldier; if it was from six months onwards, that of sergeant; if it was during the first year, they would obtain the rank of ensign; and from the second year onwards, that of second lieutenant.

Likewise, in a war situation, any cadet who actively participated on the front could be promoted through an intricate system of merits and points; even many of the subjects of the officer academy could be validated according to achievements or completed missions.

This was the best prospect for Eneas, he had to make a name for himself as quickly as he could and move up that ladder. The interest in the subject and the already accustomed vision of it after more than a year of training and several months of war made the tedious subject especially good for our returned cadet.

In space technology, the assumptions began to be a little more complex, since the distribution not only assessed generic assumptions but also simulated situations with possible attacks by specific weapons or in situations of relative severity. This made the decisions to be made increasingly complex. However, Aeneas' performance did not show this increase in difficulty; only Telemachus really stood out more than him in this class.

Lieutenant Achilles began with the second circle exercises; in this case, the cadet who was dodging and the one who was attacking were no longer within direct blow distance with his fist but could be up to two meters away between them. The dynamics were the same, Although not only punches were valid, but also kicks or even knockdowns were allowed.

He really wasn't teaching us how to fight; at the moment, he was teaching us how to dodge and move. It was a simple but effective method. The main thing in a combat with a Mech was to be able to gain mobility so as not to be hit and attack the enemy from an advantageous position.

The simulations in Arcadia continued, but it was not yet time for Aeneas to act as commander, so there were those who kept him as a fighter pilot, but many chose to put him on the bridge as communications or weapons, perhaps trying to make him Eneas did not shine so much in class.

Aeneas's performance was as brilliant as could be with that type of position of responsibility; however, Aeneas's absence from combat positions put the companions who had tried that tactic in trouble, regretting their stupidity as they grew older. They developed their exercises.

The days followed one after another, and sports betting continued to increase the flow of his fortune. However, on Thursday he received the first bad news, his user was expelled and banned from most official betting houses.

He had won too much, too quickly and without losses, and with the amounts he was betting, the bookmakers themselves could not keep up with the cost.

In principle, this would have been a misfortune, but for someone who already knew what was going to happen, it was only a temporary blip. He would have to rack his brain a little to remember things that would allow him to make money in the coming months.

At that time, Eneas's fortune had multiplied by 3 since leaving the store where he bought the Star cruiser. He even needed much more to cover the different plans he had in mind.

When the end of that week's classes came again, the news programs opened with the spectacular hail that devastated the capital and the western part of the empire. The hailstones often had a circumference greater than 20 centimeters, but the size was no longer unusual. So was the duration of the phenomenon—seven hours. Most news programs focused on the damage, on the inhabitants, on the ruined crop biofactories, however a reporter from a smaller network caught Eneas' attention.

"From Giza, the Special Envoy Moises reports that the first predictions of the old Grand Admiral Jahve are correct; are they really predictions? Or are we just looking at an old man interested in meteorology? This special envoy will closely follow the rest of the predictions to see if they come true, and if we are really looking at a prophetic revelation, the Spectrum channel will tell you for the first time.
