The hundred best second-year cadets of the officer school received their invitation to the party at the Olympeion mansion. The excuse for such a big event was not only an advance of the end of the course, which was only a month away, but also the success of several films based on the exploits of the cadets the previous year during their practices.
Publicity was a fundamental part of the work of the Navy and of political work, and the Olympeion could show off how well they handled themselves in those environments. Not only the high command and many officers would attend the party, but also publicists, filmmakers or even many possible sponsors for the boys.
