Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 - Caelan Callisto Sorcierre

CAELAN

"Its been a whole week now..."

"What happened?"

"The Young Master, has he fallen ill?"

"Him. I don't think so."

"But I think something happened."

"Shh. Get back on your work."

The Butler of the Sorcierre household firmly hushed the servants of the mansion. An incredible occurrence happened. The young master of the Dukedom, known for his pettiness and pride was silent for a week. He neither left his room nor made a fuss by nitpicking everyone, like he usually does.

Like a dead rat, he was silent. Not a strand of his hair nor a shadow was felt.

The butler stood in front of his room, agonizing on what to do.

'The master who is usually busy opposing nobles and shamelessly flaunting his wealth parading each and every banquet...is silent.'

The thought on the butler's mind was full of worries. These strange actions could be a premonition of an incoming storm, he thought.

'This can't go on. We have to know what he is thinking.'

Taking a deep breath, he gathered his strength and knocked on the huge doors of an ill-tempered employer.

Knock, knock.

Two knocks. There weren't any response.

"Young Master, would you like to eat?"

"..."

"Are you sick anywhere, sire?"

The butler stared at the door, looking for any possible movements.

"..." The butler turned his back disappointed, when the door slightly cracked.

Creak...

The door opened, revealing a good looking young man.

In an instant the eyes of the faithful butler trembled. The neat and sharp Young Master he used to serve, appeared disheveled and loose. His beautiful black hair was unkempt, tousling on all places like that of a lion's mane; His neatly folded clean clothes, now sagging and on loose, revealing the white skin of his collar bones and neck.

For some reason. the young master appeared uncharacteristically himself, yet familiarly not out of place.

Languid red eyes covered by the thick eyelashes like feathers of that of a raven were sloppily staring at him beyond the room. And when he opened his lips, unexpected words made the butler's body quiver in astonishment.

"...Food..Can I have...some food?"

"Ye...yes? Yes! Of course, Y-Young master, I shall have it prepared at once!" The butler staggered and rush away like a man who had seen a ghost.

Sigh...

The young man left alone, was staring at his running figure, looking lost and vague...

"...I don't know where the dining is..."

-----

When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by the high ceiling. At first I thought I was in the hospital, but the room looked too luxurious to be a hospital. The bed was soft and clean. The balcony of the room was closed, but a beautiful garden painted below it.

"Was I kidnapped?" I dumbly asked myself.

But I shook my head. The last memory I remember was fire doing a festive dance in front of me while almost roasting me to ashes. As for kidnapping, it was simply impossible.

'So was I saved from that fire? The book?'

I searched the room with my eyes. There were many books on the bookshelves, but there's nothing like the novel I was looking for.

Then when I glanced at the windows, a shocking appearance surprised me.

'Who is this guy shamelessly looking at me?'

"Who are you?" I inquired.

Tsk. He was a shameless guy who bluntantly mocked me, imitating my every move.

I crossed my arms, he did it too, in the same speed at that.

"Ha! Are you imitating me?"

'Can you do this?'

I stretched my body and arms, creating a letter C with my body. The guy in the glass did too. I clenched my fist. 'He was mocking me.' I tried to stupidly winked at the guy.

But I stepped backed when he did it too. "I-is he gay? Why did he wink at me?" I uttered.

Finally, I tried flexing my biceps at him, although I have no muscles to begin with. But to my surprise, my body did have a bit of meat in it.

I stared blankly at my arms. It wasn't bulky but it wasn't thin too. Since when? I stared back at the windows, noticing the guys arms as the same as mine.

Looking bewildered and bewitched, I searched for a mirror. I almost stumbled in my abruptness.

Clank, clank.

Things fell to the floor and I hastily clutched the mirror. When I inspected every nook and cranny, I repeated my last words before I died.

"Am I...hallucinating?"

"Ha...ha ha ha" I laughed. Is this a dream? A joke? What kind of prank is this?

Flap.

I slapped myself. It hurts.

"So, I was the handsome dude?"

"..."

Thinking I had gone crazy, I slept again ang again. Maybe I was dreaming, maybe I'd wake up if I sleep again.

But it was all for naught. I have slept for four days, I am incredibly famished living only with water, fruits and biscuits.

I breathed in and out, in this absurd situation I cant just run away. I've decided to meticulously searched the room I was in. And after my exploration I reached my conclusion.

First, The person living here is extremely wealthy. This room is filled with things that I can only dream about.

Aside from the luxurious goods, what comforts me most in this place was the fruits stacked in a table, with water and biscuits. It seems that the original owner of this body doesn't even touch his snacks.

'What a wasteful guy.'

I plucked a fruit berry in the basket and munched.

Second, he is a clean freak. The clothes were neatly folded, books and stationary were bizarrely organized and not even a speck of dust can be seen flying. Everything was organized that it feel like I was creating a crime while searching.

Third, this may be crazy, but I think I'm living in the medieval era. The servants outside the windows were dressed like people from the medieval era. Not one technology exist here, but crystals were imbued with light.

And finally, I glanced at the notebooks I have scattered on the floor...

'Year 1521 of the Kairos Calendar...Dukedome of Sorcierre...Caelan...'

"Have I become Caelan Callisto Sorcierre?" He was the character from the novel I was trying to save. A haughty noble that died in the novel I was reading...

Anyway, I have to know more about this body. And if I truly reincarnated in the novel, the most vital part for my life is information.

tok, tok.

I heard someone knocking. I stared blankly at the door.

"..."

"..."

"Young master, would you like to eat?"

"..."
