Chapter 94: Rayleigh Appears! Don't Hurt Luffy!
"Sabo!!!" Dragon shouted nervously as he watched the black shadow fall into the sea. The General Staff Officer of the Revolutionary Army, his trusted and proud disciple, couldn't withstand that woman's serious blow.
Given Sabo's talent, Dragon wasn't surprised he was targeted so quickly. However, Kaido's daughter learning such powerful techniques showed her lineage clearly. Dragon mused that the opportunity to win was slipping away.
"Don't be distracted at times like this," Kaido suddenly flashed behind Dragon, looking down contemptuously, his mace raised in hand.
Dragon, his eyes full of worry, squinted over his shoulder. Seeing the mace approach with brute force, the corner of his eyes twitched. In an instant, he turned into a wisp of wind and disappeared.
Kaido's mace swept through, making a sharp sound in the air but finding no physical target. Dragon had vanished into thin air, and Kaido's keen senses immediately filled in the blanks. He spotted Dragon heading toward the beach.
With a burst of airflow under his feet, Kaido catapulted forward. In the blink of an eye, he caught up with Dragon. As he flew higher in mid-air, his mace swung unseen.
Dragon suddenly reappeared, a storm-like surge intensifying his speed, allowing him to just barely avoid a direct hit from Kaido's iron rod.
However, Kaido foresaw the future and lifted the corners of his mouth knowingly. He suddenly opened his mouth. Dragon scales appeared on his chest, abdomen, neck, and mouth. A hot breath gathered around his mouth, and flames made the air around him scorching.
"Boro Breath!!"
Dragon glimpsed something strange behind him. His eyes turned bloodshot, and his face went pale as paper. Time seemed to slow down, giving him a clear view of Kaido's hideous face.
It's too late! He thought violently.
A pillar of fire erupted from Kaido's mouth, hitting Dragon in an instant and wrapping his body in flames. The line of fire bombarded the ground, melting the mud and rocks of the island, and knocked Dragon into a large pit.
When Kaido finished, flames exploded violently on the ground where Dragon had been, enveloping a radius of nearly 100 meters in heat that turned everything to ash.
After a few seconds, the fire dissipated, revealing a badly injured Dragon. The once-connected mouth of the cave was now a large pit filled with black and red melted rock, emitting light and heat.
Dragon's arms were scorched and trembling, his skin boiled red. He was sweating profusely, gasping sharply for breath. The shield formed by his wind powers and powerful Emission had prevented him from dying under this blow.
The arm that served as the carrier of the wind shield was burned black. This caused him to completely lose sensation in both arms. His powerful dragon claw combat skills might be impossible to use anymore. At this moment, his brain raced as he watched Kaido slowly float closer from the sky. His face changed several times.
Luffy, who was being watched by Yamato, lay on his side exhausted. He looked at the distant explosion and flames. Luffy's eyes seemed dry from crying as he said in a trembling, weak voice that only he could hear, "Father... Sabo... You guys too... Don't... Don't die for me anymore... Let's run away... Leave me alone... Run away..."
A few more tears squeezed out of his dry tear glands, ran down his cheeks, and dripped to the ground. He was injured too badly and had almost lost his strength. If someone could open his belly and give him food, maybe he could recover quickly.
Yamato looked at the explosion in the distance, showed an excited expression, and looked at the figure of Kaido high in the sky with adoration. "It's still so powerful~ Dad, I'll have to catch up with you sooner or later! Huh? What sound?" Then she heard a buzzing sound next to her ears. She turned her head left and right but found no movement. The sound seemed to come from below her. She leaned over and tapped Luffy's cheek with her mace. "What are you talking about? I can't hear clearly."
A strong wind swept behind Yamato, blowing her long red dress into the air. Her eyes suddenly tightened, and she frowned but did not turn her head first. A sharp sword tip pressed against her back. A voice behind her sounded lazy yet threatening, "May I please take the mace away from my dear disciple's face, little girl?"
Yamato frowned and asked, "Who are you again? Why do different people keep coming to save this guy? He's just a pirate, but his relationships seem tougher than those of royalty and tycoons. Annoying."
Yamato finally understood why Dad hated this kid so much. "I'm just a retired old man with nothing to do, and you don't need to care about my identity." The blade behind her moved, and the man continued, "You'd better do what I say. It's good for both of us."
Luffy on the ground had opened his eyes wide, flashing once again with a light called hope. With tears in his eyes, he said, "Rayleigh!"
"I arrived as soon as I received the news," Rayleigh said, holding a long sword with a faint smile on his lips. He added, "Luffy, I told you to go directly to the sea, but you didn't listen."
"I..." Luffy was speechless in grief, knowing he was wrong and had paid a heavy price. But Rayleigh's words would definitely change the situation! Luffy believed deeply.
"Oh! You're Dark King Rayleigh!" Yamato suddenly realized and interrupted their conversation. She didn't seem to care about the long sword behind her back. "That One Piece's captain!"
"The Roger Pirates have long been disbanded, and I am now..." Rayleigh said with a smile, his glasses slightly reflective. But before he could finish speaking, Yamato continued, "Dad said it, one of the 'nannies' of the straw hat."
Rayleigh stiffened his smile. Saying he was a teacher was one thing, but calling him a nanny... Kaido, you have somewhat overdone it.
