Chereads / Frieren: The Dark Mage's Diary / Chapter 136 - The Thing

Chapter 136 - The Thing

Damian, who had allowed Frieren to play, could no longer bear to see her in danger. Immediately, he ordered his puppet to finish off all the remaining demons, and within minutes, none were left alive.

"Quick, I need a priest."

"Medic, call a medic."

Frieren looked at Damian and said, "I could have eliminated him."

"I'm not going to let you experiment with unknown enemies. I need you by my side, not on the front lines." Damian was intolerant when it came to Frieren's safety.

...

City on the western border.

At the top of the defensive walls, Jones, Damian's disciple, looked around and found Saul standing at the city's peak, looking nervous and somber.

Not long after, hundreds of demons rushed towards that defensive post in a scattered formation.

There were about three squadrons of the demon army, accompanied by orcs. The types were relatively mixed. They included not only heavy infantry, which were monstrous creatures with enormous limbs that Damian had seen before, but also lower-level units like weaker demons. It was suspected that the enemy leader was a demon general of the Demon King.

The flames of battle constantly floated in the air, seemingly trying to pounce on the city within the walls of the third fortress. The enemy mages cooperated with ground attacks to reinforce their positions.

"Wow, the demons are actually concentrating their attack focus on the third fortress!" For the first time in all these months of fighting, they have strengthened their special units."

Jones was surprised and immediately ordered the messenger to request reinforcements for the third fortress.

The squadron leader who was called was also very decisive; he immediately believed in Jones's judgment and sent the reserve team to the city's front line of defense. He also sounded the horn to call for reinforcements to the rear to reinforce the abandoned areas.

Jones, with his great vision, discovered that there were more than twenty large demons attacking the third fortress.

Four demonologists were summoning dark creatures, a dozen powerful demons skilled in melee combat, and a dozen magical demons.

If this group of demons were allowed to enter the third fortress, the squadron stationed there would be exterminated, and the defenses would soon fall.

But at this moment, before Jones could think too much, when he saw a demon enter his shooting range, he raised his hand and formed an electric arc that flashed powerful lightning and shot the first arrow.

This Indra's Arrow was a powerful spell of Jones, who was an assassin, so using it alarmed all the soldiers in the fortress he led.

Boom!

The arrow that was shot caught everyone's attention because it was an extremely destructive power rarely seen in such a spectacular way, which surprised everyone.

While holding that electric bow, Damian's body glowed with a bluish hue, his hair waving in the wind, and a huge amount of mana concentrated in his body in a very subtle way.

"One down!" Jones murmured as he watched a large ravine form, killing more than a dozen powerful demons and continuing to cause havoc.

This spell, called Indra's Arrow, was one of the most powerful long-range attack spells his master had taught him. He knew the damage would increase if he used more mana, but that was unnecessary as it would reveal too much of his power.

As a primitive weapon, the bow and arrow were one of the most efficient ways to kill someone from a distance, and doing so through a magical spell was something surprising that had never been seen before.

This Indra's Arrow was aimed at the largest demon; the arrow pierced the air, emitting electric lightning that passed through numerous bodies, making a screeching sound, and the impact generated much more expansive damage than expected.

The demon that had just been torn apart by the lightning caused a chain reaction, killing hundreds more and injuring others nearby.

"What a powerful attack..." Arthur felt his legs tremble as he watched the brutal attack that Damian had unleashed.

Not only was Jones frightening with his skeletal hand, but hiding his eyes gave him an air of mystery.

"Send all the mages to the third fortress; I'll take care of protecting this place on my own." Jones looked at Arthur, who was beside him, and Arthur nodded.

"Injured soldiers who can walk quickly help their comrades down. Medics, ask the priests for antidotes, and treat the wounded quickly!"

Arthur didn't panic and took command of the vanguard, pushing soldiers with their skins peeled from their bodies to get down from the wall.

But at that moment, Damian began to unleash powerful electric attacks. An enemy mage launched a dark ray at the wall.

Boom!

The ray pierced the wall and killed five soldiers immediately. Even Brian was hit by the ray; his armor was damaged, and he fell to the ground, unable to move.

Damian waved his hands, and clouds began to gather in the sky. Moments later, murmuring some words, powerful lightning struck below the wall.

"Enough games; finish off the demons now." Damian's voice thundered across the sky, and within seconds, many who were injured rose from the ground.
