Chereads / Frieren: The Dark Mage's Diary / Chapter 116 - Reorganization

Chapter 116 - Reorganization

After defeating the orcs, Damian personally healed all the soldiers under his command who were injured and then took a special potion to increase the muscle mass of his body in certain proportions, thus gaining more protection from impacts.

Due to the inconvenient communication during the war, Damian had no time to relax, but now the moment he had been waiting for had arrived.

Upon returning to his territory, Damian reorganized his new barons, Wilson and Drogo. They had completely different roles that would provide him with much-needed assistance.

At the same time, Damian expanded the wall's territory to have long-awaited control over the entire northern border and keep the demons in check for some time before they found a way to breach the frontier.

For certain business dealings, the youngest member of the Harden family, now the family's representative, arrived.

Damian negotiated with the new lord of the Harden family and decided to grant them certain aid their family needed in exchange for livestock that could be sourced from the northern region closer to the south.

What Damian needed most were wood and minerals, such as artisan metal, which would help with clothing creation according to his designs and instructions.

Once both parties reached an agreement, Damian met with the high-ranking officials in the territory and listened to all the complaints the people were experiencing.

There were no crimes; minor offenses had been resolved among the townspeople themselves without escalating, and the quality of life had increased. But the problem lay in the goods stagnating in warehouses; many resources were unused, and many people wanted to use them for further investments.

Damian tasked Sebastian with handling this and then turned to the issue of education, which would now be mandatory for all his people, especially the children. This academic system was one of Damian's plans to train his citizens and surpass many topics where skilled personnel were needed.

For navigation, Damian needed good mathematicians who knew when to do things correctly and could chart routes depending on the area they were in.

It's not the same for someone with basic education to work in carpentry as it is for someone with the proper knowledge to take measurements.

Everything from now on would be much more directed towards education; Damian required his people to be self-sufficient and to understand beyond what they could see.

"Why does it rain?"

"Why is the sky dark?"

Damian had created numerous books explaining the missing knowledge of the people in the world. Many called him a sage for this without knowing that all this knowledge came from people who did not exist in this world.

...

At the end of the meeting, Damian looked beyond the great advantages and said to Sebastian, who was by his side, "There will come a time when I will head out to sea, and I will have to fight for the survival of all these people."

"Will I be alive by then?"

Damian looked at his loyal servant and said, "I don't think so, but your descendants will be able to stand by my side to see that moment."

"Then I will make sure they are good descendants."
