Chereads / Frieren: The Dark Mage's Diary / Chapter 71 - Crushing the Enemies

Chapter 71 - Crushing the Enemies

"Aaaaahhhhh!!!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Lucas, who was the strongest fighter in the attack group, stood petrified before these attacks he could barely perceive, and the mages ready to cast a spell were blank in front of such a creature.

"A demon!"

Crack!

"Are we going to kill them all?" Frieren looked at these foolish humans trying to invade this place with their weak troops in search of money, ambition, and power.

This was one of the reasons Frieren was in denial about fighting demons all the time; many times, it wasn't worth saving certain people, and these were the reasons she was right.

Damian, who was at a distance, indifferently watched the massacre his General Divino was causing. He knew very well that something like this could happen, so he wondered how he would resolve it.

"Killing them all is a blessing; taking them out of their miserable lives is something I want to finish as soon as possible... All the warriors who died saved these wretches for them to come here and enslave people." Damian was furious and had every right to be.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

At that moment, the darkness around Damian intensified, forming two gigantic figures. These were the two strongest summons after the General Divino, his greatest achievements in the last twenty years.

"Kill the slave traders marked with my magic, free the other slaves, and slaughter the nobles operating in this territory."

Today he would end everyone in this city who had been involved in the slave trade; this would give him much more peace of mind.

"If you kill all the nobles, the management of this city will be blank. What do you plan to do about that?" Frieren didn't know what Damian's endgame was by killing them all.

Damian said confidently, "I will take leadership of this city; my banner will replace the current family's, and we will announce that there was a demonic attack."

"How do you explain the barrier?"

"We'll say that the plague mutated, killing all the most important people—a plan by the demons. In the end, they'll believe it because they don't care about the details."

"It was an exaggeration to bring out those large puppets."

Damian nodded and said, "You're right about that; they are not worthy of dying at the hands of powerful puppets."

Mercenaries fight in small-scale battles and have more experience than the regular army, and their combat effectiveness is also superior to the regular army's.

"Don't run, idiots!"

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"Ahhhhhhh!!!"

Lucas watched as one of the Weasley twins was cut in half, and then, in a matter of seconds, that same figure moving at imperceptible speed appeared in the distance, killing those who fled.

Even before fighting their enemies, the backbone of the army led by Lucas suffered such heavy losses.

"We're all going to die."

The slave traders gritted their teeth and hurried along this path of death.

"Don't you want to participate?" Damian didn't have to make any moves to eliminate these weak warriors.

Frieren, indifferent to the deaths, adjusted her mana and stopped just as she was about to make a move. "My master said I shouldn't attract too much attention now that my strength isn't satisfactory."

"Then just watch."

Crack!

At that moment, a figure covered in blood emerged from the bushes, holding a sword. As soon as he saw Damian, he shouted, "I've got you, you cowardly mage."

Seeing this person running into the camp, Damian pointed his finger at the man's heart, and without saying a word, a spell shot out, piercing his heart.

Boom!

The man's body charred, and in a few seconds, he was dead, albeit after suffering a bit.

"Search for those who have fled; leave no one alive," murmured Damian, and at that moment, following these orders, his General Divino disappeared.

Step by step, Damian approached Lucas, who was the only one alive. His gaze was lost, akin to that of the walking dead, and his hands trembled as he held the hilt of a broken sword.

"I must confess, you have surprised me. I didn't think any of the slave traders would decide to attack, knowing I'm a second-class mage." Damian spoke as if he weren't surrounded by corpses.

Lucas trembled as Damian approached; this feeling of being with someone insensitive to deaths was something he couldn't bear. "Please, let me live."

"As I was saying, now I have to kill all those disgusting nobles involved in the slave trade and recover all my money." Damian smiled, paying no attention to what Lucas was saying.

"Let me live..."

Damian stopped upon hearing this, looked at Lucas with slight disgust, and asked, "How do you know the slaves they've been selling aren't children of soldiers who died in battle? Compared to you, who hide behind a magical barrier, we have been fighting."

"I didn't want to do this; please don't kill me." Lucas cried without any shame.

"If you give me a reason why I should let you live, maybe I'll consider it." Damian wanted to hear what Lucas would say.

Frieren, who was observing this, withdrew; she didn't want to witness something like this as it would distract her thoughts from magic, and that was something she wouldn't like at all.
