The old man quickly falls asleep on the couch. Kevin thought about not doing the same as he didn't need it, his body didn't require sleep. He should be out there stopping more muggings, stopping crimes, stopping suffering. Instead, he feels comfortable enough to sleep. He feels like he isn't required to do anything for one night. Maybe he wanted to be just like everyone else for once. Kevin shuts his eyes and allows him to fall asleep in the small apartment.
Kevin finds himself in the middle of a burned city. He sees corpses scattered across the rubble of collapsed buildings. What happened here? Kevin walks through what's left of the city and finds nothing but more bodies to keep him company. He feels a sense of dread as he suddenly hears movement behind him. He turns to see that one of the dead has stood up. A woman, rotting and mangled looks him dead in the eyes. Her eyes dead but also so full of life.
"You... You did this." What's left of the woman says as she stumbles forward.
"What?" Kevin mutters in confusion as he watches more corpses rise to there feet or what's left of them.
"It's your fault." The woman says and the other corpses repeat her words like a cursed melody. All the voices of men, woman, children. They all blend together to create an overwhelming symphony.
"I'm sorry.." Kevin mutters weakly as he takes a step back. He is then quickly surrounded by the zombie-like horrors. Suddenly, hands burst from the dirt and pull him into the ground. "P-Please..." Kevin says quietly as he is dragged into the earth and it all fades away once again.
Kevin rises from the dirt and finds himself on a hill. He stands up and scans the new area. He finds himself beholding a new sight. One that shoots terror through his bones. He sees a city burning, people crying out in terror as buildings collapse to the ground. However, the gruesome scene of destruction quickly fades from his mind as he sees the one responsible for it. His eyes lock onto a giant man with dark green skin, black horns jutting out from his skull and golden eyes that glow like the sun. He watches in horror as the man's eyes burst with energy and suddenly golden light shoots from his hands. The light shoots out like a harsh glare and burn buildings to ash.
Kevin's eyes flash with a grim realization as he notices dead plants marking the monster's body. The golden energy it uses to burn the land seems too familiar.
"Good work brother. Crush them like the scum they are. They need to be reminded of there place beneath us." a all too recognizable voice calls out. Kevin's eyes lock onto a man with orange skin as he descends from the clouds on his butterfly-like wings. The man hovers just above the beast as it tears through the earth with its powerful arms and clawed hands.
"No No No. This isn't-!" Kevin says as he suddenly finds himself in a chair. He breathes heavily as his eyes dart around the room. He sighs heavily as he takes in the small living room and spots the old man asleep on the couch. He stands up and quietly steps away into the bathroom. Kevin looks in the mirror, his golden eyes flashing light against his grey skin. He runs a hand through his black hair.
"Why does this keep happening?" Kevin mutters as screams pierce his mind like arrows. "Come on. Get it together." He murmurs as his golden eyes flicker in the mirror like a broken lightbulb. Flashes of corpses shoot through his vision and guilt overwhelm his senses as stares into the mirror. His brother's words echo through his mind, 'That's what we are' His golden eyes flash brighter and he slams his fist into his into the mirror to block out his image. The mirror shatters and he looks down at his hands. 'You did this.' a mixture of voices whisper directly into his thoughts. "Come on.." Kevin mutters lowly.
"Mister?" a small voice calls out and Kevin turns to see Derrick standing in the doorway rubbing his eyes sleepily looking concerned.
