Chapter 7 - Injuries

"Responsibility increases with greater ability, doesn't it? You can't let me go; after all, you are made of metal and can withstand bullets," Sun Jake said solemnly to Tapai.

"Damn you." Tapai tightened the gun in his hand, forcefully kicked his legs back, and charged towards the people behind him.

Various bullets shot from the front quickly caught up with Tapai's figure, eventually leading to a chorus of angry shouts from the other side.

"Haha! Got it!" Sun Jake looked excitedly as both sides were engaged in a standoff, tightly clenching his fist.

"A splutter." Sun Jake's smile froze in place on his face.

Trembling, he looked down to see a bloody electric arc blade piercing through his abdomen, with scalding blood gushing out as the blade was pulled out.

Sun Jake, clutching his stomach, turned around to look behind him, only to find no one there—just a blood-stained blade hovering in midair.

Under his gaze, a bald man with metal prosthetic arms and a cross-shaped brand on his neck, coldly revealed his true form by canceling his camouflage. "Bastard."

"You son of a bitch!" Sun Jake roared, raising the rifle in his hand.

But with a flash of cold light, in just an instant, his right arm holding the gun was chopped into three pieces.

Time seemed to stop at that moment, as he watched the marrow from his broken bones fly out into the air. Sun Jake instantly felt the immense despair between his prosthetic body and his flesh. "Am I going to die?"

In the next moment, as intense gunfire erupted, bullets shot from the left side, blocking the bald man.

Glancing at Sun Jake, who was almost turning into a blood gourd, the bald man sneered, quickly activated his camouflage, and disappeared from sight.

Just as Sun Jake was about to collapse, Tapai rushed over with a rifle in hand, dragging him away from the battlefield.

Because of his actions, the two sides were already engaged in combat and temporarily ignored them.

"Am I going to die?" The delayed pain finally arrived, and Sun Jake's consciousness began to blur as he spoke intermittently.

Tapai quickly dragged Sun Jake to a low-lying area without making any bullet threats. "You won't die!"

As he reached out his hand, the fine optical fiber that had invaded the computer quickly entered Sun Jake's body, rapidly stitching up the ruptured blood vessels, reducing the bleeding rate.

But this wasn't enough; Sun Jake was already close to hemorrhagic shock.

Tapai quickly scanned Sun Jake's blood type with a sensor wire, scanned around left and right, and pulled back a dilapidated corpse from outside. As the sensor wire was inserted into the blood vessels, the semi-transparent wire gradually turned blood-red, and another wire was inserted into Sun Jake's body.

"Wait, wait! I'm not dead yet!" The other party struggled to open his eyes.

Tapai raised his fist and forcefully smashed it against the other's head, causing the skull to cave in. "You are dead now."

As the warm blood rapidly entered Sun Jake's body, his deathly pale face gradually regained color.

Tapai quickly scanned everything useful around with radar, and finally, after injecting the pain relief and stimulant found on the corpse into Sun Jake's body, he finally woke up.

Sun Jake, reopening his eyes and looking at the rainy gray sky, cursed vehemently, "Damn it!"

At this moment, Sun Jake felt extremely fortunate that he had brought Tapai online. If it weren't for having this prehistoric robot by his side, he might have truly lost his life just now.

"Hurry, let's go. If we don't leave now, you won't be able to do anything. I don't have any anti-infection medicine, and your wound has been soaked in acid rain. If we don't find a doctor, you won't live much longer," Tapai said, supporting Sun Jake and preparing to leave.

"Wait." Sun Jake, enduring the pain, stopped in his tracks and looked at the corpse with the concave head.

This person also seemed to be a mercenary, with high-tech black prosthetic arms that looked futuristic. His clothes were riddled with bullet holes, looking extremely miserable.

A skull tattoo adorned his left cheek, his messy dreadlocks, and two large nose rings made him look anything but friendly.

Sun Jake glanced at his empty right arm and then at the metal prosthetic on the corpse. "Can you attach it to me?"

Thinking of the bald man who had almost taken his life earlier, Sun Jake's anger couldn't subside. Wasn't it just because he didn't have a prosthetic?

Sun Jake wasn't just acting on impulse. After all, the other party might still be around, lurking nearby and waiting to strike. In this situation, he had to restore his combat capabilities as much as possible.

"Having too many prosthetics can cause cyber psychosis."

"Look at the current situation. Is this the time to discuss this issue? Let's focus on staying alive and getting out of here first." The surrounding gunfire made Sun Jake disregard other considerations. In this environment, having one arm or being disabled was no different.

"Alright, you're the boss." Tapai's fingers quickly transformed into tools, starting to dismantle the other's metal right arm.

Taking advantage of the lingering effects of the pain relief medication, the shattered flesh and broken bones were swiftly cut, and soon, the dull black metal arm was transplanted onto Sun Jake.

As a refreshing sensation tingled on his nerves, Sun Jake realized his right hand could move again.

He placed the metal arm in front of him, slowly opening and closing the hand. He felt like his hand had returned.

With a clang, a blade with an electric arc sprang out from the forearm, reflecting Sun Jake's excited expression.

With a click, the blade quickly retracted, and the five metal fingers bent backward towards the arm, revealing a dark barrel spiraling open in the palm.

This prosthetic arm could even house a cannon. It was evident that many of the nearby explosions were caused by this device.

Feeling the pain, Sun Jake picked up the remaining pain relief stimulant from the ground and directly injected it into his thigh. As his pupils contracted, he felt like the world was getting brighter.

"It seems like I've struck gold." Sun Jake, regaining mobility, put the last remaining pain relief stimulant into his pocket, gritted his teeth, and stood up.

Instead of retreating immediately, he went straight to where the two groups had clashed before and fired a few shots at the people who had been chasing him.

Seeing the distant explosions, Sun Jake finally felt that the pain in his body was not as intense.

"Let's go!" Sun Jake, with Tapai in tow, prepared to leave, but a trembling hand grabbed his left leg. "Wait, wait, wait!"

Sun Jake looked down and saw a guy with a concave head and a missing right arm looking up at him. Upon closer inspection, wasn't this the original owner of his right arm?
