The beast, twice the height of and average man, starched the body of the child until finally in tore into two halves. The blood splattered on the other children who were below.
They were trembling but held each other's hands. Flood of tears fell down their cheeks.
The beast slowly turned behind and faced the three who had opened the door. Akai's heart beat increased, blood rushed inside her body. She glared at beast. On the other hand the beast smiled at her.
Without wasting any more time Akai spoke slowly while trying to hide her fears, "take the children and run, run away and never look back. There is a door behind the monster and also below the stairs. Take the one below the stairs"
"What about you?" he was anxious, "you are not thinking of staying behind are you?"
Akai kept silent, nevertheless that gave an answer to his question. He grits his teeth and threw her sword back to its owner.
Akai grabbed the sword and took s quick glance at Maria, who couldn't move her eyes from the beast below.
Ali pulled Maria's hand, bringing her back to her senses, "we need to go", he said and begun to ran down the stairs along with her. Akai remained up, taking deep breaths in and deep breathe out, preparing herself to fight.
The beast had no eyes but could hear the sounds of them running away, therefore, it threw the lower body of the child towards them but before it could them.
Akai swiftly pushed it away from them. Before they both could stop and look akai commanded.
"don't stop!"
Hardening his grip on Maria's hand, he continued to run down. Akai stared at the monster and sighed, "hey!" she clapped her hands to grab the monster's attention and succeeded in doing so, "come. to. Me" and she clapped louder and louder. She ran upstairs.
The monster was all ears and without wasting any second it followed her around the other side of the stair.
Akai was terrified of how unimaginably fast it was.
"hurry now!" she shouted looking over the giant beast, just as Ali reached the children who were sitting on the ground and crying aloud. Before the beast could turn back, Akai let out a scream and grabbed it attention.
Without a second thought, Maria shook off Ali's grip, and then ran towards the children. She pulled them to her, hugging them.
They cried uncontrollably feeling a little secure. She could feel her tears fall down her cheeks as her legs could not get up from their place.
She inwardly cursed herself for being a coward and letting fear take over her in such a situation. While Akai risked her life, she here, was being a burden to her.
Just then Ali called her, "hey, girl", breaking the emotional barrier which surrounded her, "we need to go".
Maria looked at him for few seconds before she felt a surge of power inside her that helped her to stand up again. Not wanting to waste any time she ran as fast as she could, carrying one of the children.
While Ali carried the other one on his back, looked at Akai who barely defending herself against the huge monster which was a full muscle from head to toe. He has to quickly return to help her after ensuring the children's safety.
He had bad feeling that about leaving.
"We are out!" he said finally leaving through the door below the right stairs, and closed it behind him.
Akai standing near the left stairs faced with the beast alone, smiled in relief. Her friends and the two children are now safe.
The room she was in was similar to what might be mental hospital patient's cell as its walls are covered with fine white blocks with narrow basement windows. They were close to the high ceiling above, which let in little dim light into this large room.
The metal stairs were rusty enough that with enough force they could collapse. She snapped as she found the way to trap the beast here. Nevertheless, she wasn't happy with idea. All what she could think of was to how to stop this here.
Akai narrowly escaped the monster's another death blow, by rolling to the opposite side. Then she accidently stepped on the upper body of the child which the monster killed earlier. The child's eyes were still open and they stared at her.
Her breathing became unstable and her body shook. And finally fear took over her.
"ah…", she touched the touched the drop tears that fell from her eyes, "tears…" her lips trembled. No words could come out as if a rough stone was stuck in her throat. The tears fell nonstop.
Even so, that didn't stop her from getting to face the monster head on. She did not stop the tears from falling at all, instead she let herself cry. She wasn't going let the fear take over her? Not yet.
"So, what if I cry?" she said it out loud, "you think I will stop just because I am crying? Bastard! I will fight until I know that they are safe"
She took out her gun, TAURUS 92B, and shot behind the beast, at the rusted screws that held the entire stair it in its place. Even if her aims weren't perfect as Kiara's or Chi's, they were able to finish what she intended.
The entire stair collapsed blocking the door which was below the stairs. And through which Ali and Maria escaped.
Both Maria and Ali heard the loud sound. They stopped to look back, and through the narrow door window they could see Akai standing, motionless in her place. Mostly importantly she was having a gentle smile on her face.
A chill ran down both of their spines when they saw the giant beast behind Akai.
Akai slowly turned her head and looked up at the beast.
The time seemed to be going too slow at that moment. The beast raised its hand and for the first time Akai's reflexes were rendered useless.
The next moment everything went black for Akai.
"Kai…" Ali tried to run towards Akai with also his might, unfortunately he couldn't reach her.
It was too late… too late to save her.
