The heat of the demon realm pressed against me, heavy and stifling. The dark, twisted landscape stretched out endlessly, ashen plains broken only by jagged mountains in the distance.
Above, the blood-red sky churned, and distant lightning crackled through thick clouds, casting sharp shadows on the ground.
I rolled my shoulders, adjusting the weight of my armour. Today, I was in command. It wasn't a real command yet not officially but it was a test, a training mission. I was to lead a small unit of demon soldiers on an expedition to hunt down a rogue dragon.
A *rogue* dragon. As if dragons were ever anything but rogue. The idea of training through chasing such a creature made me smirk. Typical demon realm logic.
My unit was gathered nearby, a group of hardened warriors who had seen far more battles than I had. But today, they looked to me.
