The night was still young when someone from the crowd, likely a soldier already deep into his cups, called out, "Beer pong tournament! Who's in?"
There was an immediate cheer of approval, and suddenly, the entire atmosphere shifted from celebratory dancing to competitive energy.
Tables were hastily pushed together, forming makeshift beer pong arenas, and the soldiers quickly organised themselves into teams, cups filled with ale lined up in neat little pyramids on each side of the tables.
Eileen, already grinning like a Cheshire cat, caught my eye and nudged me with her elbow. "Lydia, you and Aurelia have to join in. I bet you've never played beer pong before."
I arched an eyebrow at her, trying to look dignified, though I could already feel the lightness of the evening taking over. "Is that a challenge, Eileen?"
She smirked, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "You bet it is. And I'm going to win, of course."
