I took a deep breath and pushed open the door to the king and queen's office. The room was dimly lit, the only source of light being a single, flickering candle on the grand desk. The walls were lined with bookshelves filled with ancient tomes and scrolls, and the air was thick with the scent of old parchment.
I moved quickly, my footsteps soft against the plush carpet, and began my search.
The desk was cluttered with papers, and I sifted through them with urgency. Financial records, royal decrees, letters—there was so much to go through, but I knew there had to be something incriminating here. My eyes scanned each document quickly, discarding those that were irrelevant.
Then, my fingers brushed against a leather-bound ledger. I opened it, and the first page caught my attention immediately.
"Payments to various officials," I read aloud softly. "Dates, amounts... These must be bribes."
