Lilith's gaze pierced through the facade I was trying to maintain.
"What's the matter, Aurelia? You seem distant," she inquired, her voice laced with concern. I let out a sigh, the weight of the day's events pressing down on me.
"I'm just tired, Lilith. The ceremony, the speech, and... Lydia," I confessed, the last word leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
"I think I'd like to go home and rest." Understanding flickered in Lilith's eyes. "Of course, we can leave whenever you're ready," she replied, her tone soothing.
Lise, overhearing our conversation, chimed in with her usual enthusiasm. "I'd love to come too! I've been dying to see your new house, Aurelia," she exclaimed, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.
A small smile found its way onto my lips despite the fatigue. "It's not just a house, Lise. It's a castle," I corrected her gently. "And you're welcome to visit."
