By the time we stumbled back into the demon realm castle, the night had officially spiralled into a whirlwind of chaotic fun.
Lise had somehow acquired the spiked hat again, Eileen was hiccuping fire (which was both concerning and hilarious), and Zaya was recounting her victory in the arm-wrestling match to anyone who'd listen even though no one was there except us.
As soon as we entered the grand hall, the cool stone walls echoed with laughter and stomping footsteps.
I was still buzzing from the night's antics when an all-too-familiar voice stopped me in my tracks.
"Well, well, well," Lilith drawled, stepping out of the shadows like she was auditioning for a dramatic play.
"The bachelorette returns. And from the looks of things, you've had quite the evening."
"Mother," I groaned, feeling the beginnings of a headache. "It's late. Can this wait?"
