The room filled with an electric tension as the doctor finally said, "The first one's coming!" Everyone seemed to hold their breath, save for Riley, who let out a guttural scream.
Seraphine, who had been pacing nervously, staggered and caught herself on a chair, looking as pale as a ghost. Aurelia, still planted firmly by the wall, muttered, "I'm not looking. Nope, I'm good over here."
"Seraphine, breathe!" I hissed at her, my own nerves dancing in my chest as I kept my focus on Riley. "You're supposed to be supporting her!"
"I am!" Seraphine protested, even as she swayed like she was moments away from fainting.
"Support her without fainting!" I snapped, squeezing Riley's hand as she bore down with another push.
"Almost there, Riley," the doctor encouraged. "One more big push!"
