As soon as Elara and I stepped into my office, I gestured for her to sit in the armchair opposite my desk.
She hesitated for a moment, standing stiffly, her eyes scanning the room like she was already on guard duty. I couldn't help but smile at her professionalism.
"Please, Elara," I said, gesturing again. "No need to be so formal. Sit down. We can relax here."
She finally sat down, her posture still straight and dignified, but I could see her muscles relax ever so slightly.
"Thank you, Your Majesty," she said, her voice calm yet firm. "I just wanted to express how honoured I am to be chosen as your personal guard. I'll give everything I have to protect you and the kingdom. It's been my dream to serve at this level."
I studied her for a moment. She was young only 25 but there was something in her eyes, a quiet determination that radiated strength beyond her years.
