The baby dragon nudged against my leg again, its tiny form pressing insistently against me like a newborn seeking warmth. For a moment, I froze, caught between amusement and outright terror as its mother loomed above us.
The mother dragon's massive claws scraped the stone, her nostrils flaring with deep, smoky breaths.
I swallowed hard, not daring to make any sudden moves. The baby, meanwhile, had other ideas. It nosed my leg, then with a surprising burst of agility, began clambering up my armour as though I were some kind of rock face.
"Well, this is... unexpected," I muttered under my breath, trying to remain calm. The baby dragon's claws, though tiny, were sharp enough to leave light scratches on my armour as it climbed, all the while making small, contented grunts.
Behind me, I heard Ruvan mutter, "Captain, is that... normal?"
