Chapter 1 - Just a little Feeling

I can feel the tip of my tongue taste the dry air touching the bottom edges of my front teeth. My legs were crossed with my left foot slipping before me with my foot sliding off the rough thin carpet onto the tile floor. I can see through the bearable light cast from the diaphanous curtains from the window. The sound of the winds swirl and fall through the air with their echoes of hollow screams and moans billowing into stretches of sounds that fade. The creak struggled against the frame haunted by a howl that wavered. The silence can barely rest with the quiet low volume of the television downstairs pushing up through the floors. My neck craned feeling a long hair brush, my palm pressed on my neck with my eyes peering behind me and I saw my jersey rest near the edge of the bed with a piece of thread cut from the loins. I just fell onto the fall in a staggered stumble to rest before my bed with my bag thrown on the bag alongside my jersey. I felt the comfort of resting on the floor with emotions sinking slowly to where the air could reach before a big exhalation as I slowly stood up from the floor. Descending the flight of stairs to reach the ground floor into the small hallway between the living and the dining room hearing the television become louder and feel the atmosphere change. It was somehow cheery with a sense of warmth that touched softly with a pressure that can make me irritable. I stepped into the living room slowly stepping from the side of the arm couch into between the coffee table towards the three seater couch. I fell onto the couch with my elbow softly hitting the arm with my single hanging off the edge from below the knee, resting by the calve. The box screen was bright HD with colours that seemed a little too saturated with yellow sometimes seeming green. The Wednesday was slow, beginning with words spoken in the breaking dawn through the bedroom and immediately silence captured the house into a space. I rose from my bed with a few words lingering in my ear, attempting to sit up on the bed. Time was a frightening element that acted uniquely through the perception of the mind, I was sitting on the bed with my phone placed near my hand hearing the music reach my ears with my thumb lightly pressing on my nose. It was a light switch as it dimmed behind the thick deep maroon curtains, I was a little startled. I get out of bed to open the curtains to notice the blue sky slowly become tinted with wide white clouds that collapse into layers that darken at their thickest parts. My eyes will look at the time on my lock screen held a little too closely to my face and will drop it on the foot of my bed. From midday, I found myself resting my back on the foot of the bed on the carpet. I pushed my body on the couch to sit with my leg propped with ease. I can feel my body clench, my head falling with my sights staring at the coffee table. The sound of the car slowly clambering onto the drive to a halt left my body feeling rigid. My senses relaxed with a few breaths inhaled, the door was unlocked with the sound of a brown bag ruffle behind the shuffle of shoes. I can hear her elated breathing crush out into the home and her eyes snap to me in the living room. "Heyyy, you there. How's your day?" "Hmmm, good" I responded with a faint whisper. "Oh, you can help me with some cooking," she says while walking past the living towards the end of the room. "Something a little special for you…" My eyes lifted to see a bright smile pulling her mildly wrinkled cheeks with slight splotches of redness that pale her complexion. I lifted my body from the edge of the couch following my mother to turn right into the kitchen behind her. My fingers smelled of organic green with wet potato juice clinging to the small indent of my palms that were thoroughly washed. My face was of mild sweat that was scented of paprika and salt that was wiped away leaving a faint glossiness on my forehead with tendrils of my hair lingering before my eyes. I can see through the wisps of black hairs a plate of spaghetti topped with thick saucy mincemeat. I would take chunky bites with a few seconds left between to seem elegant before my mother sitting on the other side of the table. She was watching me with a soft gaze that slipped around my surroundings sneakily but lingered on me with attentiveness. "I think I met Gladys, around last week. You remember Gladys?" I raise my eyes to meet her gaze to respond. "Barely, I don't know." "Barely? It was a long time. I mean I believe you met since her 11th birthday party and… you would probably remember her." I lower my fork with my wrist pressing firmly on the edge of the dinner table to see my mother hold the edge of the dish towel. "Her daughter is back around town, Tina and you should both talk…" "It's a play date?" I asked too quickly with words leaving my lips with a snap of teeth that seem bite my mother into a startled response if her eyes lowered for a quick moment. "No, honey. I think you should talk to someone and maybe you can scout for the job and…" Her fingers fidgetted at the edge of the towel with slowly stopped with her thumb lightly rubbing the bottom edge. "I trust you, I want you to get back up." She said getting to her to lift up her plate that is barely half eaten to place on the counter under a microwave cover. I stood promptly watching my mother disappear behind the wall, I walked towards the kitchen sink while taking bites from the plate. I left the house with a wet plate drying wearing a red jacket, leather boots with dark jeans and a white blouse underneath. The streets were quiet under the streetlights with only a few vehicles driving past. The short walk around the block landed me near the public park as I stood across the street looking at the dark area where the nearest streetlight could barely illuminate. I ran across the road into the pale darkness and stopped in front of the swing set. My hands held the cold chains as I sat on the swing set. I lift my head to look up to see only splinters of light in the dark night sky with a single blinking light scaling across the darkness. I can hear the cicadas ring endlessly into a silence and resume almost immediately. I wish the stars were above me so I can imagine a wish that can make me happy. I had everything, a man I could love, a great job and a best friend. My eyes fell to stare at my boots that could barely be seen. I stood up from the swing set feeling my bladder beginning to leak, walking across the park towards a small building near a large tree. Inside the toilet, I can see three stalls that are completely free. I walked slowly past each stall to stop at the last stall, inside with my jeans pulled to my ankles with my butt hovering over the seat. I look at the writings on the stall doors of rude and interesting jokes scratched with either ink or a sharp point. My eyes noticed a small etching with red ink, 'Swear five a fuck to reset everything' and my lips pulled into a stupid smirk. "Fuck" I uttered under my breath. 'Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck…' I can hear my mind trail off into silence.
