Chapter 32 - Dungeon Raid-2

With his sword and shield in his hands, and confidence in his steps, Arun made his way inside the dungeon. He was surprised to see how easy it was to kill the people outside, and from what he could tell, those people were no adventurers. The way the last man hid behind the wagon told him that those guys had never even set foot on a battlefield before.

Either that or I have become so powerful that I was able to delete those guys without any problem.

Arun still remained cautious, because he knew that the power level of guys out there could reflect the power of the people inside. The people who were inside, they were the real adventurers like Sanja and his team. The people outside were just chores guys at best. Which is why he was more vigilant from there on.

Like the Kobold Dungeon, the entrance of the dungeon took him through a narrow cave-like structure with light-emitting moss stuck at the roof. He had his shield out in front, to deal with any frontal attack. While he was also paying attention to his back, making sure that he was all alone here and there was no one following him.

The hallway eventually brought him to a very big cave. And this cave was enormous. From what he could guess, it was as big as four blocks of a street. In the middle of the place was this small pond full of water. And he could see skeletons lying by the pond.

Goblins must eat near the pond… I know, I can just poison the pond water and it would eventually kill every goblin of the dungeon. He chuckled inwardly, knowing full well that this strategy would never work.

He took a step forward towards the pond when he accidentally took a step at what looked like a squirrel's skeleton. A loud cracking noise echoed in the cave, and soon he started hearing chattering noises. He looked around to see at the other edge of the cave was a group of goblins standing up. Based on what he saw, he understood that all the goblins were on the other side of the pond, and they were fast asleep before he woke them up from their slumber when he stepped on the skeleton.

The goblins that woke up started making noise, and before he knew the whole horde of the goblins had woken up.

Fuck… These.. This group is big.. Very big.

From what he saw, there were more than 4 dozen goblins before him. And the thing was, he didnt know whether he would be able to handle them at all or not. Immediately he changed his strategy and took out the quiver with the poisonous arrows and his bow. Aimed, and fired the shot.

Before the goblins seemed confused because a human was walking in their home. But after he shot the arrow, which struck a little goblin straight in his chest, they went bonkers. Everyone started screaming, and some goblins picked up their clubs and spears and started rushing towards him. The only good thing, they didnt seem to have an archer among them.

While Arun on the other hand went on full berserk mode, his mind stopped processing stuff and just started shooting at the little turds. As he was standing at the other side of the pond, he had some time before the goblins could come up to him. So he just started taking out arrow after arrow and just started shooting those guys down. He missed some of his arrows, but it didnt matter to him at that point in time.

The goblins were smart. When going around the pond, they split into two groups so that he could not run away. Arun saw through the tactic in an instant, which is why he concentrated his attacks on one group of goblins so that he could reduce the numbers there first. There was no way that he was going to run away from there, so, he had to use the pond as an advantage. Which is why he was reducing the goblins to one side so that he could maintain some distance from the other group while evading.

No matter how hard he tried, the side that he concentrated his fire on eventually crossed the half mark from them to him. And so did the second group as well. So he changed his strategy, he took the eastern pots of poison that he took from the Goblin village that night. With his survival knife in one hand and pot in another, he made a hole in the pot and threw it inside the pot. By the time he got to the seventh pot that he threw into the pond, the goblins got too close to him. Some of them started throwing stones and spears at him.

He was able to dodge most of the pointy items, but two or three stones stuck him on his torso, which was painful as hell.

Arun then stopped pouring poison and took his magical staff. He started pouring mana into the staff and started concentrating on the pond water. The water contaminated with poison was green in color, so he concentrated on the dark green portion of the pond and started making water snakes out of them, just like when he made it during the fire extinguishing job.

He sent the torrents of water towards the weakened group of goblins while moving towards them. The water snake was not strong enough to do any harm to the goblins, what he was counting on was some of the goblins were drinking the water. Sending the torrent of water also managed another thing, he knocked some of the goblins off their feet, giving him more time to come up with all new strategies for the assault. But some of the goblins did drink the water, and didnt get up after lying down.

After he had knocked most of the goblins off their feet with water, Arun changed his strategy once again and took his sword. It was time to get dirty.
