Chapter 10 - Chapter 10

All three of them had looks of fatigue on their faces.

"Please introduce yourself," said the young chief examiner in the middle, who never looked up, merely flipping through Qianxue's resume on the desk.

Qianxue was startled, silently took a deep breath, and began to introduce herself with sign language as calmly as she could.

When she saw the light in the eyes of the two examiners on either side slowly fade, replaced by thick disappointment and pity.

Her heart, ultimately, felt a bit cold.

"Why aren't you speaking?" the man in the middle finally lifted his head impatiently, but when he saw the woman in front of him, his voice abruptly stopped.

Ye Subai was the one who was stunned after seeing the woman's large eyes; he didn't know what had happened to him, only that the helplessness and strength in those autumn-water-like eyes had fiercely collided with him for a moment, rendering him speechless.

This woman had the professional attire and the charm of a career woman, yet her clear, large eyes were free of any impurities.

At this moment, she was using those clear eyes to plead for a chance, pleading, but not humbly, with her own dignity.

Steward Chang nudged him with his elbow, "General Manager, she's a mute. Though she graduated from A University with a degree in corporate management, she doesn't meet our requirements."

Ye Subai came back to his senses; he looked at Qianxue's resume and saw that she had applied for the position of General Manager's secretary.

He stroked his clean chin, pondering for a moment.

Cold sweat began to seep from the palms of Qianxue; she quickly used sign language to tell him, "I really need this job, and I believe I am competent. Although I cannot speak, I will make up for this disability with twice the effort."

She suppressed the helplessness in her eyes and continued with sign language, "I majored in secretarial studies at A University, I have studied all the relevant courses, I'm very confident in my professional knowledge…"

In this moment, she suddenly lost her nervousness, feeling an unexpected clarity in her heart.

"So, please give me this chance."

The two supervisors shook their heads, sighing deeply. Such a beautiful girl, with such high qualifications, a pity she was a mute.

Not everyone understands sign language and lip-reading, just like them; while watching her express something eagerly in sign language, they couldn't understand a word.

They only knew her large eyes, like black gems, were shining brilliantly, very beautiful, very captivating.

Ye Subai understood her sign language and read her heartfelt plea.

Those confident and firm eyes deeply attracted him. He found himself being drawn in once again.

He said with a steady tone, "Your name is Yin Qianxue, right? I will give you a probationary opportunity. You applied for the position of General Manager's secretary, considering all factors, I've decided to let you start in the secretarial department as an administrative secretary. Do you have any issue with that?"

Qianxue quickly stood up from her chair and gave a deep bow, expressing her gratitude.

How could she have any issues? Although an administrative secretary was the lowest level, just being given this chance was something to be overwhelmingly thankful for.

She looked up with tears brimming in her eyes.

"Thank you, I will work hard," she earnestly and steadfastly signed to Ye Subai.

She could finally take a step forward; the days of relying on grandma were drawing one step closer.

Ye Subai watched the delighted girl, somewhat spellbound.

Leng Chenxuan drove back to the city, passing the magnificent Xiya Bridge in City A. Silently, he looked out the car window, a fleeting shadow of pain hardly perceivable in his eyes.

Four years ago, on a rainy night, at Xiya Bridge.

Yun Muyin, whom he had been in love with for two years, chose to break up with him right here, her reason being he couldn't give her what she wanted.

Then that woman went abroad, and since then, there had been no news from her.

And that rainy night was also when he found Yin Qianxue, alone and helpless.

Looking at the handrails, the sight of Qianxue's despairing dance at the end of the bridge suddenly sprang before his eyes.

She was dressed in a faded plain-colored dress, barefoot, with her shiny long black hair fluttering in the wind, her profile lost and desperate.

For a moment, he thought she would jump off the bridge. But then he saw her suddenly kneeling in the rain, crying in despair.

He felt a certain pity for her and couldn't help but offer her solace.

When he saw her large eyes, full of tears yet harboring extraordinary strength, his heart skipped a beat.

This was a sensation he would always remember over the four years.

He had never seen such resilience on any other woman, her age not much different from Lingyu's, yet with such firm and unyielding eyes.

He had people look into her thereafter.

Her home was in a small fishing village not far from City A, with a seriously ill grandma and a gambling-addicted uncle.

She came from a humble background, was a mute, lived a chaste life. And this matched the conditions he was looking for in a surrogate body.

He withdrew his gaze and faced forward once again, steering the car steadily.

Since he had been with her last night, he would make sure she got pregnant as quickly as possible. Beyond that, he wanted no further entanglement.

Pressing the accelerator, the car sped towards Leng's.

"President Leng," the receptionist greeted the towering figure entering the lobby with a sweet tone, bowing respectfully, her large eyes curving like crescent moons, filled with admiration.

"Hmm," Leng Chenxuan nodded silently, striding towards his private elevator.

As he closed the elevator door, next to him another elevator dinged open.

Yin Qianxue came out of the elevator, her face radiant with light.

She gave the receptionist a light smile and headed towards her Yamaha.

In three days, she would be able to start working here. It was a probationary period, so she still had to prepare herself.

Riding her Yamaha, she first went to the convenience store to buy some fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, bread, and then went to the small shop she usually visited to buy several suits for work that were generous and well-fitting.

In the sea breeze, her long hair fluttered, her smile beaming, radiating a captivating charm.

Once at the apartment, she skillfully stored the food in the refrigerator, then carried the suits up to the bedroom on the second floor.

Dry clean, iron, and hang in the wardrobe.

Opening the right-hand cabinet, it was filled with the small dresses and western attire that man had bought for her, along with various high heels.

It couldn't be denied that the man indeed had good taste and was very proficient.
