Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 Rebirth (1)_1

Night had fallen, and Situ Xin, clad in her black night clothes, darted through the darkness. She had just completed her final mission, which was to acquire the documents brought by an official from Country Z during their visit to Country H.

The task was an easy feat for Situ Xin, easily the simplest one she had ever undertaken. Initially, she had thought that since she was leaving the organization, her last assignment would be incredibly challenging. But to her surprise, it was a breeze.

Looking at the documents she had just stolen from the official from Country Z, she thought about handing them over to her team leader. After that, she would be able to leave the organization and start living the life she desired.

While Situ Xin was in good spirits, moving through the night shadows, she failed to notice two gun barrels aimed at her from the darkness. When the bullets were fired, she sensed the impending danger, but it was already too late. One bullet struck her squarely in the chest with deadly accuracy.

In the moment the bullet hit her, Situ Xin's mind was flooded with regret for her complacency. When she glimpsed the two figures that materialized beside her, she realized the truth—today's mission had been a trap, purposely set by the organization. Indeed, she had been so naive to think that leaving the organization would be simple. How could the organization ever let her go so easily?

Indeed, everything that day, including the mission, was a trap by Situ Xin's organization. The moment she reported her intent to leave to the team leader, the organization had set the trap. They were aware of Situ Xin's abilities; they knew no one within their ranks could defeat her. Therefore, they waited for the moment when her guard was lowest to take her down.

After confirming Situ Xin's condition, her former teammates vanished into the night as swiftly as they had appeared. Their mission to deal with her was now complete, and they were ready to report back.

Once Situ Xin understood that it was all a setup by the organization, her heart instantly lightened. Watching the retreating figures of her former teammates, she thought, "Well, this life has been too exhausting; death might be a relief. But I hope in my next life, I'll be reborn into a better one and live a happy and fulfilling life."

From a young age, Situ Xin knew she was an orphan, an unwanted child. Life in the orphanage had always been difficult; only the matron truly cared for them, the orphans. The others only pretended to be kind when visitors were present. If any child disobeyed, punishment was quick and harsh.

At the age of seven, the organization visited the orphanage to select recruits. Because of Situ Xin's exceptional talent, they chose her. She began her career as a special agent. Initially, she endured bullying from others in the secret training facility. Older children, also with outstanding abilities, frequently targeted her, the latest arrival. Without the power to retaliate, she suffered until her own abilities earned her the top spot in the training facility. As she grew stronger, she became colder, her trembling hands during her first kill eventually steadying into routine. As time passed, the weariness set in, and the desire to leave the organization grew—only to lead to her demise for harboring such thoughts.

Situ Xin felt her body growing lighter, as if she was about to float away. Unnoticed by her, the blood flowing from the wound in her chest stained the Phoenix Jade Pendant she had worn since childhood, which then emitted a strong red light. Suddenly, her vision was filled with brightness, blinding her. And that was when Situ Xin lost consciousness.

When Situ Xin regained her senses and opened her eyes, what greeted her was utter darkness. "Eh, where am I? I think I just died—is this hell? But why aren't there any messengers of Yama around, and why is it so dark?" Thinking this, Situ Xin tried to call out and ask if anyone was there, but no matter how much she tried, no sound came out.

After attempting for a long time, Situ Xin had no choice but to give up. "What place is this, and why can't I make any sound?" She calmed her mind and sensed warmth around her, and if she listened closely, there seemed to be the sound of water. Now Situ Xin was even more perplexed.

Having struggled for a while, Situ Xin grew tired. Instead of dwelling on the unclear, she decided to let go of these thoughts. She slept deeply, and during her sleep, specks of light entered her body, slowly moving along her meridians. If a cultivator were to observe this scene, they would be astoundingly surprised. Such a phenomenon, an unborn baby absorbing Spiritual Energy to cultivate, was unheard of in reality.

After a satisfying rest, Situ Xin slowly woke up. "Ah, that was such a comfortable sleep," she thought, stretching her arms and legs. However, her movement unexpectedly resulted in voices from outside. Because she had unconsciously cultivated Spiritual Energy while asleep, she could easily hear outside noises. "Ah! Haotian, the baby kicked me, she kicked me!" "Really? Baby, I'm your daddy."

Stunned, Situ Xin was at a loss for words, thinking that she could be in someone's belly. She couldn't grasp how she had ended up there; weren't the deceased supposed to report to Yama or drink the soup of forgetfulness? Realizing that she retained the memories of her past life, Situ Xin was even more astonished.

As she grappled with her confusion, voices came again from outside. "Wife, why hasn't the baby moved again? Could it be that the baby doesn't like me?" Hearing this, Situ Xin was speechless, considering how childish her future father seemed to be. Not wanting to upset him, she reluctantly stretched her leg again. Then she heard her future father's excited voice, "Yay, the baby moved. She heard me talking!"
