Chapter 4 - Demon meets God

After his death the soul of Cyrus floated about the void unaware of anything going on around it.

Death.

In life people are truly only equal in death. At this time Cyrus came to understand what this line meant. Even though when alive he was one of the strongest to exist, if not the strongest, when he died he went down the same cycle of reincarnation as the peasants and his enemies.

After his long journey Cyrus reached the end point of the cycle of reincarnation. King yemma's palace. In this palace king Yemma would judge whether you go to heaven or hell based your decisions in the living world.

sitting on his throne King Yemma looked into the depths of Cyrus's soul and immediately learned everything about cyrus's life. soon after the expression on his face changed while looking at the unconscious soul in front of him.

"Interesting. this soul seems to meet that being requirements. this is no longer something that can be left in my hands. If he finds out I sent a potential candidate to the after life I wouldn't see the end of it."

King Yemma was impressed by the accomplishments of the soul In front of him. very few in any world truly start at the bottom and still reach the peak of the world, even establishing a new path leading toward a high peak for that world.

"I'll send him over to that being now. Cyrus Epimetheus I should pay attention to this soul from now on."

After saying this King Yemma covered Cyrus's soul with an invisible energy. If Cyrus was conscious right now he'd be able to tell that the energy that was wrapped around him was spiritual energy just way more refined and profound.

soon a tear formed in the space right in front of Cyrus. the Fluctuations of time and space could clearly be felt coming from the tear. Then Cyrus soul was sucked in by the tear only for King Yemma to close the year a second later with a flick of his finger.

That was the start of the second journey through dimensions that cyrus has went through. though this one being much shorter as less than a minute after getting sucked into the tear he was spat back out in a white room.

The moment Cyrus came out of the tear he regained his consciousness and began to survey his surroundings. in the white room was a round table the color of ash placed in the center. There were two wooden chairs at the table. one being empty and the other having a man occupying it.

The man seemed to be normal if you exclude the inviolable light covering the upper part of his face like a mask. In the center of the table there was a floating screen that seemed to be made of liquid metal.

"come, have a seat." said the man without looking away from the screen.

Hearing this Cyrus walked toward the seat opposite of the man and silently sat down.

After a moment of silence Cyrus spoke up.

"where are we and who are you?" his eyes slanted staring straight into the eyes of the man in front of him. not like he could see the man's eyes.

the man looked away from the screen for the first time in their meaning and said "we are currently in the highest of the nine heavens and I am a god. One of the strongest in fact."

"Why am I here then. I doubt one of the strongest gods would have to deal with something as troublesome as the afterlife of mortals." asked Cyrus trying to better understand the motives of the individual In front of him.

"we will get to why you are here in a minute. First lets talk about you. you are the strongest to ever exist in your world. now with the countless number of worlds I could have chosen anyone from the countless other worlds. But you're different not only were you the strongest but you also started a new era for your world. An accomplishment that only a select few heros can achieve." the man now known to be a god said as he looked away from Cyrus and back up at the screen.

"look here. what do you think of this world?" the god motioned toward the screen.

looking at the screen Cyrus saw an enormous city on that seemed big enough to hold millions. looking at the crowded streets and the hustle and bustle of the city he thought that there has to be at least a few million in the city if not more. the screen continued to got through the city as he wished, from the slums to some of the most luxurious mansions he had ever seen with the screen finally ending on a tower in the middle of the city. the tower seemed to reach into the heavens far into the clouds. almost every main street in the city seemed to go to that tower.

"so what do you think" asked the god again

"It's amazing. Very lively and energetic." answered Cyrus. It was the first time he'd ever seen such a grand city. it's population being able to rival countries.

"this world is one that the gods use as a vacation. To find excitement in their otherwise boring lives. After all being immortal means you run out of things that excite you pretty fast."

"now I would like to give you an offer you can go to this world and complete a task for me or you can go back to the cycle of reincarnation and forget all of this. If you agree with my offer then I will be willing to give you three abilities of your choosing to help you get stronger faster. And your talent will be the same as your last life." Cyrus seemed to feel the god staring into the depths of his soul when he was asked this.

after some hesitation Cyrus asked "what do you want me to do in this world."

"It's pretty simple actually. There is a boy in this world who will grow up to be a great hero. I want you to support him. Don't make his life easy but make him stronger and as he gets stronger harder challenges will come his way. I am asking this of you because I like the story of this young hero and I want to see him reach greater heights and overcome greater obstacles. you are someone with the knowledge to train him into the hero I am envisioning."

"will you place any restrictions on me?" again Cyrus questioned the god.

"Besides supporting the boy there are none. even if he dies as long as I can tell you did everything in your power to prevent it then I won't do anything harmful to you. though I will say that one of the powers I am giving you requires him to be alive. But I'm sure you are capable of reaching the peak of this world without any assistance."

Finally Cyrus just sat there and thought on the offer the god had given him before coming to his conclusion.

"I'll do it"
