Chapter 44 - New found power

As the opposing dragons were closing the distance between us with clear bloodlust we formulated a plan of attack.

It was simple, Delmar would draw their attention as my sister and I would engage from a distance. Of course this plan relied on our opponent underestimating us, but we deemed this to be a nonissue as the only other dragon that had seen my new found control over my destruction mana had been dead for a while.

Just as the opposing dragons got within a few hundred yards the largest one who was clearly the leader of their contingent spoke up.

"You have been summoned by his majesty, come with us if you value your sisters life."

And just like that something snapped in my mind, my sister was alive. So I responded to the yellowish dragon.

"What have you done with her?"

"She is currently enjoying the company of his majesty, though I would not say that she is exactly enjoying her stay."

There was only one conclusion that I could make with a statement like that. They were torturing Apollonia. My mind immediatly went hazy and I unconsciously started to channel all of the different sources of mana in my body into my throat.

Delmar seeing my expression simply shook his head before he launched forward to engage, not even bothering to say a word to the five dragons across from us.

Corentine sensing that the battle had already begun, started to summon storm clouds above us as she flew upward to seek shelter in the clouds.

Something that I had discovered in my training was that if I forcefully combined my other kinds of mana with my destruction mana, it yielded a terrifying result.

Having accumulated enough mana I unleashed my first attack, I called it omni-elemental roar. A beam of light erupted from my maw, at the center was a lance of destruction mana as the core and surrounding it were streams of my other various mana's which were now Flame, earth, and wind.

If the attack had any physical matter in it, it would have broken the sound barrier as it flew straight past Delmar and directly disintegrated the largest dragons head and neck after just a couple seconds of impact.

I quickly turned my head to adjust its aim and succeeded in decapitating the dragon in the air next to him.

The next second after the second dragons life was ended I felt that I had already hit my limit and cut off my breath. This attack put a huge amount of strain on my body, it took everything I was to fire it once.

This was because Destruction mana was innately repulsive to other forms of mana. Like how a human would react to being chained to a living pile of human shit then having to eat it all to leave.

This was to say that all forms of natural mana did not want anything to do with destruction mana. Hence why it was so taxing to control.

In fact the strain that it placed on my body and mind to execute this attack was so great I would be out of the fight for a while. So I slowly decended back to the platform and landed before slumping to the ground.

While I was making my exit, both my sister and Delmar were actively engaged in battle. Delmar was skillfully evading otherwise deadly blows while counterattacking with quick and precise spells or claws and teeth.

Corentine was also ensure that when Delmar changed targets a bolt of lightning or other attack would go straight to the previous opponent before they could injury him.

POV Delmar

As I changed targets again I heard the now familiar sound of a bolt of lightning the width of a large tree cracking through the sky as it impacted my previous opponent.

I used the deafening sound to my advantage as I narrowly evaded the maw of my attacker before grabbing hold of my opponents horns and throwing him straight towards the ground. In the next instant I unleashed the breath that I had been saving before it impacted him as he tried to right himself midair.

The attack left him plummeting into the earth below as my water mana ran amuck across his scales leaving him twitching in the impact sight.

Before I could react I felt a spear of ice tear through my side before exiting, I let out a low growl before I redirected and faced the remaining two dragons.

The Blue dragon on my left sneered in disgust, before the green on the right let out their breath. I managed to avoid the brunt of the damage but still suffered damage to my left wing which greatly lessened my agility.

Sensing the danger I was in Corentine let out her own breath attack from high in the sky, but it only succeeded in making our opponents dodge before they prepared their next attacks.

Luckily the few seconds that she bought me were just what I needed as I lunged forward at the green dragon and started to grapple with him.

Claws flashed in the sunlight as we tore into each other, after a few seconds of falling I managed to maneuver my neck so that I was able to bite down on her neck and clamped down before a dull snap was heard and she fell limp.

As I briefly watched her fall to the ground I heard Corentine yell in the distance "Behind you!"

I turned my head and what I saw only warranted one response. "Well shit."

Behind me was the last dragon remaining from our attackers but it seemed that she was done playing around. Around her was countless spells and I could see the moisture in the atmosphere forming into various different weapons.

Through all of this I could feel the mana coalescing in her maw, clearly having used my other struggle to give one final attack.

In a split second every attack was unleashed, I just barely got a water barrier over my vital organs before every unprotected part of my body was thoroughly eviscerated.
