Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Start of the End

Thirteen months had slipped away since the fateful duel between Ace and Arnold. In that time, Ace, Isabella, Tina, and Shaw had seamlessly woven themselves into the fabric of the city's defences, their talents and strengths melding with the disciplined ranks of guards and militia. They had become part of the city's population. Their lives being in peace despite the aftermath of the cataclysm that had befell them. They had perfectly integrated with the denizens of the city.

Then, on a night swathed in the cloak of darkness, chaos descended upon the city like a tempest unleashed from the depths of the abyss. The attackers struck with the venom of surprise, throwing the once orderly streets into disarray. Ace and Arnold rallied their comrades amidst the chaos. But their adversaries were not mere foot soldiers; they were a force possessing unprecedent power and strength. In the heart of the fray stood a mysterious entity who was a formidable commander leading the charge with a cold, unyielding determination. Beside her, six hooded people, the embodiment of sin, clad in darkness and wielding power that seemed drawn from the very depths of hell itself.

Ace and his comrades were engaged by five of them in different locations while the other stayed beside his master. But unfortunately even their most powerful attacks couldn't make a dent in their defences. "Hahaha! You're too weak. You're pathetic attacks won't work on us, The Seven Spectres of Sin." Said one of them. "Die! Gula Leo!" they stated as they released a black matter which took on the form of a lion destroying everything in its path. No matter how much Ace and his allies fought , their weapons had little to no effect. "What are they? And did he just say Gula?! It almost similar to that woman's Avaritia. Greed and Gluttony. The Seven Deadly Sins!" thought Ace as he wondered who they were.

As the fight raged on, defeat loomed on the horizon as the city's defenses crumbled beneath the relentless assault. Seeing this Ace released a lot of energy trying to attack the leader but he was stopped without effort as she said, "Interesting. So a human managed to achieve that level?", "Nothing?!" he thought as her follower punched him in the gut sending him flying. "You're an interesting human what's your name?" she asked. "Before asking someone's name, shouldn't you introduce yourself first?" he said, "I see. I'm Yurna Yggdrasil, The Destroyer. I'm here to announce that the end of your world as you know it shall disappear. Call them back." She said as she distanced herself.

As all her followers gathered around her, "Since you've reached Astral Awakening. Let me tell you this. In this you might be able to destroy me. But you are still too weak to even hope to defeat me. If you wish to save your world from destruction then come to Apocrypha and destroy us. After all you've already managed to defeat the weakest of my spectres, the bearer of Avaritia. Well until we meet again, Oh awakened one." She said as they vanished into thin air. As dawn broke, and the echoes of battle faded into the ether, a newfound resolve ignited within Ace's heart. With the attack leaving behind a trail of destruction and despair, an unyielding determination seized him. Arnold, preoccupied with the aftermath of the siege, could not deter Ace's resolve.

Gathering his companions who had all been badly hurt and defeated, their spirits bruised but unbroken, Ace reassured them and told them that even if he has to he would chase after them and defeat them all .Hence after weeks of rest, Ace embarked on a journey fraught with peril and uncertainty as his companions reluctant to let him go alone, follow him. With each step, they left behind the shattered remnants of their once proud city, venturing into the unknown depths of Yggdrasil's domain, Apocrypha. Guided by a flickering beacon of hope amidst the encroaching darkness, Ace and his companions marched forward, their destinies intertwined with the looming specter of apocalypse. With every stride, they carried the weight of their fallen city upon their shoulders, their resolve unshakable in the face of insurmountable odds. For in the heart of darkness, they would find the spark of redemption, or perish in the blaze of oblivion.
