Mo Han ignored the two people in the hall and walked out with his daughter.
As the saying goes, a bully is always a bully's best teacher. After all, Wang Mengyao had it coming, considering she deserved what happened to her. She could have lived a comfortable life of luxury, yet she chose to mess around instead.
After leaving the hospital, Mo Han expertly placed his daughter on the rear seat of the electric bike. With a squeeze of the throttle with his right hand, the bike shot forward.
Feeling the breeze on her face, Chen Chen constantly fiddled with her small hands in the air, having felt stifled for a whole month.
She had dreamed of getting out and feeling the wind, and finally, her dream had come true.
Humming...
At that moment, Mo Han's phone in his pocket began to ring.
Mo Han stopped the bike and opened his phone to see that it was his wife Luo Ning calling.
After hesitating for five seconds, Mo Han still answered the call, his tone softening involuntarily, "Hello, Ning'er..."
"Have you arrived at the Civil Affairs Bureau yet?"
An ice-cold voice came from Luo Ning over the phone.
After the failed insurance scam last night, Luo Ning, furious, had proposed a divorce and had sent him a text message stating they should meet at ten o'clock that morning in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau to get the papers.
Remembering yesterday's embarrassment, Mo Han's voice lowered, "Ning'er, I..."
"If you haven't, forget it!" Luo Ning said coldly, "I happen to be busy today. We'll go through the procedures in a few days!"
"Go to the hospital and take care of Chen Chen!"
With that, she hung up the call.
A wry smile spread across Mo Han's face; he had wanted to tell Luo Ning that Chen Chen was already better, but Luo Ning didn't even give him the chance to speak. As a man, he felt utterly useless to this point.
He thought for a moment and decided not to tell Luo Ning for the time being, choosing to surprise her when he got home in the evening.
"Daddy, I want to play over there!"
Suddenly, Mo Han heard his daughter's excited voice.
He saw his daughter pointing with her right hand at the Children's Fun Playground in Wanda Plaza nearby, looking forward full of anticipation.
"Daddy, Chen Chen wants to go there to play. It's been such a long time since I last went."
"Mom and Dad used to take me there..."
"Alright! We'll go!" Mo Han gently stroked his daughter's head and said softly.
Throughout this past year, his daughter had suffered a lot while being with him. As he recalled, their last visit to the playground was six months ago.
In the past, he couldn't afford to let his daughter enjoy herself fully, but now, Mo Han wouldn't allow that anymore.
The Children's Fun Playground was fully equipped with facilities like a carousel, a fort with a ball pit, a realistic fishing pool, trampolines, slides, and educational video games.
Mo Han took off his daughter's jacket and sat quietly outside, watching her play in the playground.
Seeing Chen Chen's hearty laughter among the balls made Mo Han's heart nearly melt. The image of the three of them frolicking in the playground half a year ago suddenly flashed across his mind.
"Ning'er, Chen Chen, I'm no longer the weak Mo Han I used to be!" Mo Han clenched his right fist and swore to himself, "I will definitely make sure you have a good life!"
After a full two hours of play, Chen Chen happily left the playground, "Daddy, next time let's bring Mom here to play, okay?"
"Okay!" Mo Han nodded. He checked the time; it was almost twelve o'clock. Going back to buy groceries and cook would be a bit late, so he decided to have lunch there with his daughter instead.
After parking the electric bike, Mo Han headed straight for the Yunhai Restaurant.
The Yunhai Restaurant, the finest in the Wanda business district, was a place Mo Han used to frequent with Luo Ning before he went bankrupt.
During the busy lunch hour, the restaurant was incredibly crowded. Mo Han had to wait half an hour before he and his daughter could finally sit down and order.
At the entrance, a tall and burly middle-aged man walked in with a beautiful young woman and a little boy around four years old.
"Sir, we're currently fully booked. Could you please take a number and wait outside in the queue?"
A waiter immediately intervened but the middle-aged man simply pushed past her, ignoring her as he walked in with the young woman and the boy.
The man looked around and, upon spotting Mo Han who had just settled by a window, strode over. He took out two hundred yuan from his bag and threw it at Mo Han, arrogantly saying, "Two hundred yuan. I'm buying your spot. Get out!"
Mo Han looked up, his gaze indifferent, "I was here first. Why should I leave for you?"
"Why?" The middle-aged man sized up Mo Han—a body clad in cheap garments, just a low-quality look.
He sneered and pulled out another two hundred from his bag, "Is four hundred enough?"
By then, the young woman had already brought the little boy over to Mo Han's table. When the boy saw Mo Xiaochen, he shouted, "Mo Xiaochen! What are you doing here?"
The young woman frowned slightly, "Xiao Hu, you know her?"
"Know her? Of course I do!" The little boy puffed his cheeks and said, "It was her who scratched my face at the kindergarten."
As it turned out, this boy, Xiao Hu, was Mo Xiaochen's classmate at the kindergarten.
A month ago, Mo Xiaochen fought with Xiao Hu and got a bloodied nose, which wouldn't stop bleeding. Only when they went to the hospital for a check-up did they find out it was leukemia.
The young woman was unaware of Mo Xiaochen's situation; she just knew her son had come home with claw marks on his face, and after several trips to the kindergarten, she was unable to find the parents of the little girl. She had been holding back her anger for a while.
With arms crossed, she looked toward Mo Han with a stern tone, "Children don't know better, but adults should, shouldn't they?"
"Get up and apologize to my son!"
