Chapter 44 - Departure

Anna eventually didn't ask him how he managed to do it, and whenever she asked, he pretended to be clueless. But this didn't diminish the admiration in her eyes as she looked at him. Since he changed, it seemed like there was nothing he couldn't do!

Louis calmly enjoyed Anna's admiring gaze. He was now a big shot! Any problem that money could solve was not a problem for him. The profits from Hua Yin made his wallet bulge and expand uncontrollably. Regarding Thalia's matter, after Anna told him about it, he roughly guessed the reason. "Can't even afford a meal! Why are you going after some dream!" This also made Louis sigh. Men and women really had vastly different perspectives and ways of dealing with things. Women were mostly emotional, while men were mostly rational.

Early the next morning, Anna got up. Louis, for once, didn't go out for a run. The two of them tacitly stayed in the kitchen, making breakfast together. Anna's luggage was already packed and placed in the living room. Cicc was still sleeping, but Anna didn't plan to wait for Cicc to wake up before leaving. She was afraid she wouldn't be able to leave once Cicc woke up.

Breakfast was quickly prepared, and Anna ate quietly. Louis sat beside her, chatting away. They were just like an ordinary couple—wife going out to work, husband nagging on and on with his instructions. "Remember to call often when you're there. Otherwise, Cicc will miss you. I've already talked to them over there. You'll be going today, and Mo Du isn't far. Come back whenever you have time."

"If there's anything outside, remember to tell me. Don't keep it to yourself like a fool."

Anna ate her porridge while listening to Louis talk. Suddenly, she felt a little lost and didn't want to leave home. Anna ate this meal very slowly, until she finished the porridge. Her phone rang, and she was still lost in thought. It wasn't until Louis reminded her that she came back to her senses and answered the phone.

"Hello! Anna! I'm ready! Thalia and I are together! When are you coming over?"

"I'll be there in a while! Just wait a little longer!"

"Okay, I'll be downstairs at my place later. Don't stand me up!"

The call ended, and Anna lifted her head, looking at Louis. The expression in her almond-shaped eyes made Louis's heart tremble. Anna looked really beautiful. At least among the people Louis had seen in both lives, there were few who could compare to her. It's just that her personality, Louis felt, was too gentle. This might also be related to her experiences. Louis, who grew up in an orphanage, understood this well. People who had experienced such things tended to have either paranoid or people-pleasing personalities. Louis was like that in his previous life. He would always consider others' feelings before acting. He knew the bitterness in it, so he didn't want Anna to continue like this. At least, she should be more confident!

Louis turned his head, looking at the luggage, not daring to meet her gaze.

"It's time to leave, right? Don't keep them waiting!"

"Yeah, I'll go take a look at Cicc before leaving."

Anna withdrew her gaze, speaking softly. She felt that looking at him like this was the boldest thing she had ever done.

Louis hummed in response and walked with her to the bedroom. Cicc was still sleeping soundly, completely unaware that Mommy was about to leave her soon. Anna affectionately kissed Cicc's cheek and nuzzled her neck before reluctantly getting up and walking out of the bedroom, taking three steps back for every step forward.

Louis followed her, helping her put the luggage in the car. He watched her sit in the driver's seat before closing the car door and walking to the side.

"I'm leaving!"

Anna turned her head to look at him.

"Yeah! Remember to come back often! Otherwise, Cicc will definitely throw a tantrum!"

"Yeah!"

The car started, and Anna suddenly turned her head, her expression serious.

"Louis, thank you!"

Before Louis could respond, the car drove away.

Louis smiled. Hey, we're family. What's there to thank for?

The car drove all the way to the city center, where Freya had been waiting impatiently downstairs. She stood there, and Thalia shook her head. This girl had been working for so long, yet her temperament was still so impatient.

"Anna's here!"

Anna's car slowly approached, and Freya waved her hand eagerly. She kept waving until Anna got out of the car, then Freya walked up happily and called out.

"Anna!"

"Freya! Thalia, have you been waiting long?" Anna held Freya's hand and glanced at Thalia, apologizing slightly.

"Not too long, mainly because Freya here is too impatient!" Thalia chuckled. She hadn't expected the three of them to reunite for work today.

Thinking about this, Thalia remembered the man who looked like a playboy but had somehow made today possible.

"Thalia, thank you for coming," Anna walked up to Thalia, taking her hands and shaking them playfully.

"We wouldn't know what to do without you," Anna said.

"Alright, enough of that! We're all mothers now! Still acting like children!" Thalia teased, making Anna blush. Even now, Anna didn't know how Louis had persuaded Thalia.

The three of them didn't have much luggage, just some essentials. The car easily accommodated all their belongings, and they got in, Freya waving her hand.

"Let's go! Towards the bright future! Here we come!" Freya exclaimed.

"What a wild girl!" Thalia teased, while Anna couldn't help but smile.

The car headed towards New York.

New York, Yin Hai Entertainment Building. Bailey arrived at the office early, but she couldn't focus on her work today. After enduring until noon, Bailey checked the time and went downstairs to the entrance of the building.

Today, that guy's wife was coming!

She wanted to see what kind of person this pampered wife was.

She didn't have to wait long before she saw a car with a New York license plate pulling into the parking lot in front of the building.

Bailey squinted her eyes and carefully observed. Three people got out of the car: one was chatty and full of youthful energy, another was a bit older with white hair, but both had indulgent smiles on their faces the whole time.

Seeing Anna's two friends, Bailey knew that Anna must have a good personality.

Bailey's gaze fell on the woman walking in the middle. She had a heart-shaped face, fair complexion with a rosy tint, almond-shaped eyes that sparkled like water, long hair cascading down her shoulders, and a gentle smile on her face.

She looked so gentle and vulnerable, no wonder Louis was so fond of her.

Bailey adjusted her mood and walked up quickly.

"Hello, you must be Anna, right? I'm Bailey, the deputy director of the Human Resources Department at Yin Hai Entertainment. On behalf of Yin Hai Entertainment, I welcome you to join us!"

Bailey smiled and extended her hand, looking Anna straight in the eye.

"Hello, I'm Anna," Anna said softly, also observing this elegant lady. Anna admired the aura emanating from her.
