Chapter 2 - The transformation of the devil

I took a comfortable hot bath, and Louis's body felt even more tired.

He changed into clean clothes, took out his phone from the old clothes reeking of alcohol, threw the clothes into the washing machine, and then walked to the mirror to look at himself.

His long hair covered his eyes, his face pale, his beard thick with days of growth, a perfect image of a recluse.

Louis had to use his hands to push back his hair in order to see his full reflection.

It was clear that with a little tidying up, this Louis was quite handsome, after all, he used to make a living off his looks.

The bathroom door opened, and Louis walked out.

He clearly saw the mother and daughter sitting on the worn-out small sofa both flinch inward.

Louis shook his head, ignoring the two, and pushed the door open to leave the house.

Anna stood still, a look of despair in her eyes.

Is he going out to buy more alcohol? Hasn't he had enough tonight?

She and Cicc will go hungry again tonight.

Anna bit her lip, her face paling, she looked down at her small daughter, tears falling uncontrollably.

"Mama doesn't cry, Cicc isn't hungry."

Cicc thought that her mother was crying because she was hungry, so she quickly reached out her small, white hand to clumsily wipe Anna's face.

Anna bit her lip, the tears falling harder.

After a while, she finally spoke in a trembling voice.

"Cicc, be good, Mama will put you to sleep, and once you're asleep, you won't be hungry. Tomorrow morning, Mama will make you something delicious, okay?"

"Okay! Mama, don't cry!"

Anna lifted Cicc gently. The pain in her back from her movements was faint but present, and the long-term malnutrition made her vision blur for a moment.

But she still struggled to stand up, holding her daughter, and slowly walked into the bedroom.

She lay down on the bed, feeling some relief in her body, humming a lullaby softly to put Cicc to sleep.

As she watched little Cicc slowly close her eyes, Anna thought about the two years of misery after marriage, feeling deeply sad. She finally made up her mind, she would leave this hell tomorrow.

Even if she died outside, it would be better than being tormented to death by this demon.

*Tinkle*

The sound of the door locking outside made Anna, lost in her thoughts, tremble again. She instinctively covered Cicc's ears and listened quietly to the noises outside.

Has the demon come back with more alcohol?

Louis opened the house door, unconsciously looked towards the sofa, his expression momentarily stunned. Had the two of them gone back to the bedroom?

But haven't they had dinner yet?

Louis looked at the food in his hands with a vacant stare, then after a moment, he placed the food on the table and walked towards the bedroom.

Anna was tensed, she heard his footsteps getting closer to the bedroom, she quickly closed her eyes pretending to sleep, praying in her heart that he wouldn't come in and would go straight to drink and pass out on the sofa outside.

But the next moment, a knocking sound resounded.

"Knock, knock, knock."

"Ahem, ahem, I bought food for you two. If you're hungry, come out to eat, I'll sleep on the side tonight."

Hearing this familiar voice, Anna suddenly opened her eyes, then she heard his footsteps gradually move away, the sound of the side room door opening next to her, then closing.

The room suddenly fell silent again, with only Anna's nervous breathing echoing in the bedroom.

Cicc, not knowing when, opened her eyes. She clearly heard Louis's voice and curiously stared at the closed room door.

Today, that unpleasant father unexpectedly didn't come back to the room to sleep, and it seemed like he said he bought food for them?

Thinking of the food, she felt hungry again. She swallowed her saliva, eagerly looking at her mother.

The situation seemed surreal, leaving Anna at a loss.

She didn't dare to believe him, but the reality seemed to match his words.

Anna lowered her head, watching her daughter's expectant eyes, summoning up her courage, she tiptoed quietly towards the bedroom door and opened it.

The orange light from the living room shone through the crack in the door, and the fragrant smell of food on the dining table wafted in.

Anna stole a glance at the table in the distance, which was unexpectedly set with two bowls of steaming hot white rice, along with four side dishes, two meat and two vegetables placed in plates.

Anna's eyes welled up with tears, and the distant meal appeared blurry.

He actually bought food for herself and her daughter!

Faced with this unexpected kindness from the demon, Anna felt not joy but a deep fear from the bottom of her heart.

Why was he doing this? What did he want from her?

*Ding, dong, dong*

Perhaps smelling the aroma of the food, Cicc ran barefoot over with her short legs, clinging to the door crack, looking outside. Then her eyes suddenly lit up, and drool unconsciously dripped down.

But she didn't move on her own, instead, she raised her head and looked at her mother with eager eyes.

Seeing the food on the table outside and the expectant eyes of her daughter, Anna helplessly closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then smiled faintly and lifted Cicc.

"Shh! Cicc, be quiet, let's eat quietly."

Cicc's eyes lit up even more, nodding her head hastily.

Anna patted her head, picked her up, and carefully sat down at the dining table. The aroma of the food on the table made her stomach growl uncontrollably.

Cicc quickly picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of rice, while her other hand grabbed a chicken leg and took a big bite, showing that she was very hungry.

Anna's eyes showed a touch of heartache, gently patting Cicc's back, telling her to eat slowly, but she still didn't touch her food.

Cicc looked up, her big eyes forming crescents, she picked up the chicken leg in her hand and mumbled.

"Mom, eat~"

"Yes! Mom will eat too, there's more in the plate!"

Seeing her obedient and sensible daughter, tears had already welled up in Anna's eyes. She nodded heavily, taking a bite of the delicious chicken leg handed to her by her daughter.

It had been so long, she had already forgotten how long it had been since she had seen scenes like this.

Anna wasn't sure what came to her mind as she turned towards the closed side room door.

Meanwhile, in the room, Louis heard the sounds outside. He sighed deeply, from the moment of his arrival in this world, he sighed more than he did in thirty years in his original life.

This original owner of the body was too infuriating, causing him to be filled with anger now, only able to relieve it through sighs.

After sighing, Louis started to think.

After going out to get a haircut and buying the food, he realized that there was only a little over one thousand eight hundred in savings left in the house.

If he hadn't come to this world just in time, This family may have starved to death

I need to make money!

Louis interlaced his hands behind his head, leaning against the bed, quietly staring at the snowy white ceiling, pondering.

After a moment, he suddenly sat up straight, his eyes shining.

Right!

Why didn't I think of this sooner, this is another world!
