A month later.
Kiana had grown accustomed to her new home. She loved exploring the open gardens, there were many fountains and ancient greek like statues scattered around, making the place rather majestic.
A few guards patrolled about the area. She also noted that there were many, many security and CCTV cameras. She was very diligent at keeping up with her school work, and jogged around the the front yard of the estate in the early hours of the morning. The estate had acres and acres of land, that one would no doubt need a car to get by in.
Everytime she passed by the fir tree woods a wild shiver would play down her spine. As much as she wished to venture into the woods she held back. She couldn't muster up her courage to step foot in it just yet, not when she had an encounter with that invisible ghost. Moreover, she steered clear of Henry the most.
Despite his insane rich handsome looks, that guy intimidated and internally freaked her out with his insane high aura. Luckily for her, there was a distraction. Her crush Jason. He always made it tolerable when Henry or Roman another wild card whom she was vary about was nearby. She found the Verrono brothers rather hard to approach.
Today, Kiana was in the library room and was having a meeting with aunt Bella who still hadn't returned from her trip.
Jason was present in the meeting with her, which obviously set those wild butterflies to erupt secretly inside her belly. It was still hard for her to imagine that he'd recently picked her up bridal style when she panicked out in the woods a couple of weeks ago.
With him present wearing his dark blue suit and a matching tie, Kiana couldn't help but sneak secret glances at him. At one point however, Jason noticed and looked her. She blushed crimson red, and quickly averted his gaze away from him, as he finished setting up the screen ahead.
The screen then came on and her aunt Bella was present with another incredible beautiful girl with blonde hair and sea green eyes present beside her. She wore a dark purple jumpsuit and looked to be in her mid twenties, whilst Bella donned on her ivory suit, looking elegant as ever.
The middle aged lady's eyes lit up when as she saw her best friend's child.
"Hello, Pooh-Bear." Aunt Bella chimed with a bright smile on her face, happy to see her after a couple of weeks. Although she was miles away from her, she made it a point to catch up with her every other week.
Kiana blushed embarrassed when she greeted her like that, making Jason smile amused.
"Aunt Bella, please." Stop. Kiana shook her head and mouthed the last word to her. Her mischievous old lady loved to tease her.
"I'm sorry, sweetheart, whenever I look at you, I just see the five-year-old child that I adore and miss alot." She reminded. Kiana laughed knowing how she was smothered with her kisses as a child.
The girl besides her, rolled her eyes, to which Kiana found rude, but lowkey ignored. She looked just like Aunt Bella only 50 times younger.
"Ha-ha, well I'll have you know I'm turning eighteen in couple of weeks, and I hope you're here for my birthday?" Kiana said, really missing her. She was the only closest one to her; that she regarded as family ever since her mother passed away.
The old lady sighed. Preparing her daughter to handle the hotel business out in Italy was proving to be a difficult task, since she was internally having issues with her inner beast loosing control and was highly addicted to human blood. She couldn't risk her being around Kiana. The real reason she'd taken Petra away was to tame her beast and get her thirst for human blood, under strict control.
"Kiana, I'll do my best to come, but there is a lot paperwork I need to sort out and company-related projects I need to deal with. Anyways, how are you getting on at school?" Bella said shooting her eyes towards her daughter who held a stoic expression.
Well, the uniform sucks. She hated that she was enrolled in a very high prestigious private school. Half the kids at school, draped themselves with jewellery and boasted about expensive holiday trips they'd been too. Moreover there were a group of kids known as the student council that initially ran the whole school, and they didn't fear any teachers and came into class really late. Bullying occurred mostly with them, but Kiana ignored it.
She concentrated on trying to have a peaceful life, and desperately trying to ignore the drama of who were popular and not at school.
"Yeah, school is great. I made a couple of friends who showed me around the maze like place."
She half lied, the only friend she'd made was a much less popular kid, named Haruhi Tanaka. She was a diligent, kind, hardworking and a clever girl who'd earned a scholarship. She was the first one who saved her from the patrolling student council gang members who targeted lost or late running students to class. Thanks to her she got by.
"That's great sweety."
"Great? There's nothing great about a freeloader living at our place Mother." Petra interjected seeing Kiana as an eyesore. Nothing new, so did Henry who thought she was nothing but a charity case that his mother had taken in.
Jason held in his annoyed sigh, and clenched his jaw in irritation.
"Forgive the rudeness of my youngest. Petra, she forgets her manners in my presence." Bella coldy remarked, making Petra fold her arms over her chest, grumpily. Even if she was a spoilt rich bratty princess, that got everything handed to her on a silver platter, she had a point.
Kiana knew she was only staying under Bella Verrono's due to her being her legal guardian. But once she turned 18, she'd eventually need to move out and move into a reasonable apartment that she could afford. However that could only happen once she found herself a steady job, which was very determined to do.
"No, aunt Bella, it's alright, I actually wished to talk to you about that matter. I've already started job hunting and I'll move out as soon as I've saved enough."
Petra's frown turned upside down. She nodded her head in immediate approval.
"Finally! I agree with orphan Annie. She should get a job and then get the hell out of the Verrono estate, mother. Infact I'm more than happy to recommend a place of my own if Annie here wishes to move out now?"
What crawled up her ass and died. I wonder why she was so eager to have me kicked out? I gave a short annoyed tight smile and decided not to comment on what she labeled me as. Orphan Annie? I internally gave her the middle finger up.
"Petra!" Bella scolded with a cold look of her own.
"What? You know I'm right mother. Besides. The full moon is around the corner and she better find a place in town before the dra―"
Suddenly aunt Bella looked towards somebody else in her background and before Petra could finish her sentence, the person in a dark suit, clamped her mouth shut and dragged her away from her chair, causing her to yell and scream through his hold. Kiana was surprised when the person dragged her away.
Woah, did she just get kidnapped?
"Umm..."
.
.
.
I shuffled in my seat little uncomfortably as I heard Petra's screaming out like that, when that person who ever he was took her like that.
"Is she ok?" I whispered at Jason who shortly bit his smile. For a split second he almost looked amused when Petra was dragged away out of the meeting room like that.
"Yeah, she's fine. Don't worry about her, Kiana." He replied meeting my gaze.
God, why was he so hot? I blushed shyly before him once more before aunt Bella spoke again.
"Don't look alarmed Kiana, that was just Matteo. Petra's bodyguard. He helps me out when that brat runs her mouth too much." Bella said taking a shot of her drink.
I briefly caught on to what he looked like before he exited with an angry Petra.
"I can see she's giving you a hard time. But what did she say a moment ago? She mentioned that the full moon is around the corner and then I didn't get the rest of what she said?" I asked puzzled.
Aunt Bella took another sip of her drink looking a little nervous.
"It's nothing Kiana, Petra likes to scare people with her nonsense."
Jason said speaking to me once again. Those amazing butterflies fluttered in my belly when he gazed at me with his amazing honey coloured eyes. Wait, she was trying to scare me? About what though? Nevermind, I better not push the matter any further. I sensed he seemed a little pissed of with her little speech, that didn't make sense to me what so ever.
Aunt Bella once cheery self, then turned into a serious toned one.
"Jason is right. Ignore that impudent child of mine. She's been spoiled way too much and I blame myself for her bratty attitude. I've let her have too much freedom. Anyways, Kiana would you please step outside, I'd like to have a private word with Jason." She said darkly staring at him for a brief second.
Woah, she looks pissed.
"Ok. I'll see you when I get back?"
"See you soon, pooh-bear." She teased me once more.
"Aunt-Bella!" Kiana gritted out annoyed making her laugh.
"That's the last time I promise sweety." She smiled making me shake her head at her teasing. I highly doubt that.
Jason then got up and open the door like the perfect gentleman. I blushed when he did so. Be still my beating heart. He could never, ever know I had a crush on him.
With my back to him, I suddenly felt him hold my upper arm back ever so slightly, making me immdiately freeze from taking another step forward. He leaned close to my head and then I heard him playful whisper at my ear.
"See you soon pooh-bear."
"Jason!" I whined giving him a disapproving look when I shortly turned around. He had a big fat grin plastered upon his very handsome face when he let go of me and I couldn't help myself and hit his arm playfully, making him lowly chuckle.
"Sorry, couldn't resist." He winked then closed the door behind him as I fully stepped outside.
.
.
.
Kiana had taken a couple of steps away from the door, when suddenly she heard a wild growling sound erupt heavily behind the door.
The noise made her freeze.
What the hell was that?
Curious about the loud noise, Kiana placed her ear against the door.
"Madame Bella, please calm down."
"Calm down?!" Aunt Bella's voice was angry. She never heard her this angry before in her life.
"I just got informed that we're low on our Moon Pills! The next shipment isn't until the next couple of months and do you know how hard it is to deal with Petra's outbursts?"
"We know. Henry is dealing with the matter with Sean as we speak. Henry is still low on energy and you know he needs it when ― "
"Jason! Speak up, you know mindlink doesn't work through a WHATSAPP call!" aunt Bella fumed, as Kiana wondered what she meant by 'mindlink?' when Jason suddenly stopped talking.
"Princess." A sudden voice from the back, suddenly made her turn around so fast.
Kiana was so surprised that her feet buckled backwards causing her to trip herself up. Before gravity struck her down to the ground, a pair of powerful arms snaked around her, and caught her fall.
Kiana met eyes with violet ones.
"Jeez! Roman, you umm...Startled me!" She pulled away from his hold, and went to walk away from him, feeling his scary intimidating aura, once again.
However, Roman was not about to let her escape his sight so easily.
"Not so fast princess." He grabbed her elbow and pushed her upon the nearby wall.
Surprised with him suddenly blocking her, she fired a heated glare at him.
"What the hell? Move out of my grape eyes."
Roman scoffed and trapped her with his hand preventing her from leaving.
"Excuse me? Grape eyes?"
"I know your eyes are fake! What are those coloured contacts?" She accused bitterly whilst still secretly fascinated with his eyes.
Roman laughed finding her amusing. This was the first time he'd seen her get angry with him, and he rather enjoyed it. Moreover, she'd be more freaked out if he glowed his eyes purple at her.
The thought was tempting to see her reaction if he did so, but for now he held back.
"No princess. These are my true coloured eyes."
Kiana scoffed not believing him.
"Whatever, liar."
"I'm not. You can look it up on the net, I'm amongst 3 percent that carries this very very rare eye colour in the family. In fact, my great great, great grandfather had it." Roman boasted in a proud manner, making Kiana simply arch her brow.
"Whatever, will you please step aside and let me pass?"
"Hmmm." Roman towered over her, enjoying her amazing scent. But the minute he did that, Kiana got extremely nervous.
Something was off about him. She couldn't explain it, but they way he watched her like a curious animal, disturbed her.
Her apsara senses were going off inside of her, like a warning alarm bell, no thanks to his sudden intimidating aura. What was he staring at her like that so deeply for?
"I just caught you eavesdropping outside the door."
Well.
He got her there.
"N-no...No, I w-wasn't." Her heart raced as she lied and looked away from him.
Roman grinned and caught her jaw in his hand, making her look back at him. Kiana's heart flipped in another alarming away when he roughly grabbed her like that. She slapped his hand away and fired another heated look at him, making him chuckle, amused.
.
.
.
"Princess, don't lie. I just caught you." The way he spoke, made her heart tremble with worry. Kiana had her back to the wall glued, and prayed that he'd move out of her way, but her grape eyed man, took hold of her hand in his instead.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean too."
"Hmmm. So, what did my naughty princess hear?" Roman asked quite interested to know.
She scoffed, and arched her brow. Was he flirting with her. Eww. Kiana slapped her hand away from hers making Roman scowl.
He just asked her what she heard. Kiana was a girl with many secrets, and she knew how to keep secrets.
"It's none of your business," She said sassily, calming down her troubled heartbeats. Despite the fact that he did intimidate her with his odd aura, Kiana didn't dare wish to show him that she was afraid. Roman seemed the kind of guy, who reminded her of a typical bully. A very tall bully, that no doubt had a strong looking physique under his dark suit.
Sensing her troubled features and her heartbeats rising, with his close proximity, Roman decided it was the perfect time to play with her. He grinned flashing his pearly white teeth. Kiana was startled to see that he had some sharp corner teeth. Kind of like Jason when he smiled at too.
"You love using that line on me don't you princess?" He narrowed his eyes down at her almost looking down at her in a dominant way. She wish he'd stop calling her that, it was kind of getting annoying.
"So?" She sassed, trying to maintain her stance, looking up at him boldly giving him a clear sign, that she was not intimidated by him, or his presence. Although she secretly wore that façade well, when she was on the inside.
Grape-eyed Roman however grabbed hold of her petite wrist again in a sudden moment. She fired him a unpleasant look once more. Roman on the other hand gave her a little tilt from his angular jaw like head, like he was curious about something.
What the heck was he up to now?!
Her inner Apsara senses were freaking out inside of her, like warning bells, to get away from him.
"What are you doing? Let go of my hand you purple-eyed giant!" she tried to pull hard again, but Roman didn't let go.
He was too curious now, since he knew, her scent was not human.
