Chapter 1 - Awakening.

Darkness, all I see is darkness. Has my life always been so dark?

Wait, who am I? more than that where the hell am I?

Feeling a huge headache, Emrys opens his eyes slowly, without understanding what is happening, with his vision blurred and the light of the red moon coming through the window barely returning to his senses.

He smells the smell of blood so thick that it seemed like there was a slaughterhouse.

Slowly, he raises his head, feeling something above him. A human face appears in his sight, a corpse, Emrys confused looks around.

feeling his entire body paralized from the view he gets agitated for a moment when he sees his body covered in blood, but he cannot scream; the headache pain barely lets him understand what's happening. He can barely move that corpse from above him.

Understanding that this was not his blood since he didnt see any wounds or feel any pain besides his head then feeling his headache go away slowly, and his vision improving, he notices a movement in the corner of the room with the moonlight reflecting some kind of beast or dog but much bigger and taller it was cutting and eating then dismembering what appears to be a piece of meat with clothes there was so much blood there Emryus could not difference it at all.

This doesn't look good at all, Emrys thought.

Understanding that the situation is bad? No, how it's going to be bad to wake up in a room full of blood with a beast on the other side having a good dinner.

Trying to remove the corpse from him slowly so as not to attract the attention of the beast, feeling his strength return little by little. He manages to move it from him but out of nowhere the beast stops eating and its ears stand up. Now is not the time you stupid monster! Emrys can only see the back of the creature but something told him that he should get out of there right now. He held his breath and crawled behind the sofa next to him.

The beast seemed to have completely stopped its dinner and was looking towards Emrys, although he couldn't see it. Emrys knew that whatever he had to do to save himself now was the time. quickly checking the room he saw the open door at his right without having time to think more, he got ready on his knees and ran towards the open exit. He didn't even look in the direction of the beast but he could hear its roar behind him as he ran through the hallways of the great house. He saw several corpses, all of which seemed recent.

He almost reached the end of the hallway when he heard the roar of the beast very close. As he wanted to look back while he was running, he tripped over one of the corpses and fell, feeling something enormous fly overhead of him and crashing into the living room table. There was no time; he had to get up. What the hell is that thing?!. Just when he thought about getting up and running, he noticed that the corpse that made him trip had something old and long next to it, some kind of firearm. It was long, rusty, and looked like it would be destroyed after just one use.

Without hesitation, Emrys crawled a little, got on his knees, and grabbed the gun, aiming it at the destroyed table. Finally, he could see the beast perfectly.

The beast is tall and imposing, its form twisted by some dark, supernatural force. Its skin is patchy and tough, stretched tightly over strong muscles. Coarse fur sticks out in places all over its body, looking rough and untidy.

Its head is a mix of human and animal features, with a snarling snout lined with sharp teeth. Its eyes gleam with an otherworldly intensity. Twisted horns curl above its forehead, adding to its frightening appearance.

Long, snakelike limbs end in sharp claws, capable of tearing through flesh and bone effortlessly. Its movements are fast and graceful, revealing a predatory nature despite its monstrous form. A sense of danger surrounds the creature, sending shivers down the spine of anyone who sees it.

Emrys' hands had never trembled in his life before, or in the little memory he had right now. Yet, here he was, trying to aim at the beast while his entire being trembled, feeling how with every passing second, the beast took a step closer, as if mocking him. It seemed to know that even if he managed to hit it, it wouldn't affect it much. So he put on a mocking smile.

"Ugly monster, you're just playing with me, but I'll die my own damn way."

Then, moving the gun towards his head, Emrys closed his eyes and shot. After a few seconds of silence, he opened them.

"Without gunpowder? Ahahahah, how can I have such bad luck twice in one day"

he muttered, looking into the eyes of the beast, which was now tilting its head very close to him, opening its jaw. Emrys simply closed his eyes and accepted his fate, until he heard the sound of a gunshot.

Opening his eyes, he saw the beast fall right in front of him. Behind it stood a lady with long black hair, shining like stars in the moonless night. Her clothes resembled those of ancient Europe: a long jacket that almost touched the ground, with a cape on top and a sword at her waist. Her smile illuminated the dark hallway as she playfully said.

"What do we have here? A survivor? And he doesn't even have a soul, wow, wow..."

She leaned down to take a good look at Emrys in the darkness, moving his chin with the gun up.

"Boy, who are you?"

Momentarily lost in her dark eyes only one thought came to his mind Beautiful, noticing the dumb face he was putting she pushed her gun more againts his neck making Emrys snapping out of it.

"I don't know."

This seemed to surprise the lady in black, and she started to laugh quite loudly.

"Ahahaha! I really didn't expect that. Trapped in the cursed city, and you don't even know who you are?"

She removed the weapon and kicked the beast's body to one side of the hallway. Although it seemed fragile, it had enormous strength. Emrys couldn't help but think that he shouldn't make her angry.

"I really don't remember. I don't have any memories of how I ended up here. Thank you for saving me, but could you tell me what the hell is happening? Where are we?"

The lady in black looked thoughtful like not really believing him for a few seconds, still with a smile on her lips. Then, she turned around and said.

"Follow me."

She began to walk away slowly, and Emrys noticed that she really meant it not caring if he just barely survived it. Emrys got up and followed her a little bit annoyed.

Walking after her, they arrived at a room that looked like a bedroom. She went to the balcony, opening it with a kick. Standing behind her, Emrys looked at the view, confused. When he was about to speak, she turned around with a mocking bow.

"Welcome to the cursed city of Morningstar."

Before them lay the sight of a huge city full of lights here and there, screams and roars of beasts everywhere, and an endless fog covering the entire city, but even thicker on the outer edges. It seemed like something out of a story, a city of horror and darkness, with streets of stone and lamps at each step, half-off, making it seem like a dream.

Emrys, already tired, leaned on the stone railing.

"It seems like this nightmare will be very long."

He looks slowly up noticing that everything is red because of the moon was it always red? starting to feel the same headache again this time stronger feeling that it is becoming more and more difficult to breathe, he staggers back slowly without understanding what is happening. Looking down at his arms, he sees that there is fur is growing very quickly, and in a short time, he would become completely a beast. Then the lady in black; she kicked his leg making him fall at his back. Now looking at him from above, still with the same mocking smile, she leans towards him with a vial of black blood and injects it into his chest, right in the heart. He slowly feels his consciousness disappear, barely understanding what she murmurs to him:

"Find the curse and..."

waking up seeing a strange ceeling again its not like any ceeling is familiar for him since he doesnt even remeber his name, he looks around seeing a young man sleeping at the chair next to him with a Flintlock firearm, Only a small lantern illuminates the room. Emrys checks his body to see if he still has that strange fur but sighs with relief when he sees that he is perfectly fine. Then the door opened and several people entered.

"Elliot! Damn idiot, I told you to watch him. What are you doing sleeping?"

The young man stood up clumsily, dropping his weapon several times. Just as he was about to speak, the old man interrupted him quite angrily.

"Not a word. You will be punished for now. Go help your companions."

After seeing the young man leave and closing the door, looking at them, it seemed they were all tired. Even the nun had her clothes dirty with blood. She approached Emrys slowly and opened my pupils.

"Hmm, it seems like he wont transform. We can use him."

She got up from my side, leaving a notebook with a black ring with black stripes in front of Emrys. It was Jason's turn.

"We read your notebook, Emrys Von Valen, a damn noble of the highest level. Even bastards like you can get trapped here, eh? Now it might not be you seeing as you don't even have a formed soul yet."

Emrys replied,"Wait, that's my name?"

Jason grabbed him by the neck. "Don't play with me even if you're a noble. You're no better than a corpse here."

The lady touched Jason's shoulder. "Wait, let him talk. At least we can listen to him, right?"

Jason got up and stood at the door with his arms crossed.

Emrys told them how he woke up in this place and barely survived the encounter with a beast thanks to the lady in black.

"It's impossible, no one survives alone out there."

Then, after a moment of thinking, the nun said, "They found you near one of the entrances to the church, a soulless man. It's just difficult for him to survive, but maybe that lady helped Jason."

The nun got up and walked away. heading to the entrance the nun said. "Show him the place, Jason."

Jason turn around and said. "follow me and welcome to hell."

A large church stood before Emrys with walls around it that did not allow the fog to enter. Many people were coming and going, all carrying some type of weapon. Looking at a couple of sales stalls, there was food, although it looked like rotten meat, and even weapons and pieces of equipment.

"What is this place?"Emrys asked as he followed Jason.

"It is a place that Captain Vulcan built. At first, it was chaos, but we were quickly able to build this place knowing that death was everywhere. For some reason, the beasts of the city do not dare to approach this place, and not even the fog covers it. By the time there was order, many people had already died. There were only a few hundred left when we were thousands, but from time to time, people like you appear. It is said that everyone came in after sleeping and boom, they woke up in this hell. most people die because the closer you get to the fog the stronger the beasts are, most of them are Evils, second level"

Emrys intervened, "Second level?"

Jason sighed, overwhelmed. "I forgot that you had amnesia. I have to tell someone to explain everything to you anyway. Listen, in the cursed lands, the monsters go in levels. Until today, it is said that there are six levels: first, Monster; second, Evil; third, Supreme Evil; fourth, Rotten Creature; fifth, Abyss Creature; and sixth, Demon. Although I have told you all this, in reality, very few survive encountering something that is higher than the third level, such as your Von Valen family or the four great families of the kingdom. But that is one story for later. We have already arrived since today you will live here."

Looking at the old building that seemed like it was going to collapse, the door opened, and a very tall young man came out looking sleepy. "Jason? What are you doing here, and who are you going with?"

Jason whispered to Emrys. "One thing before I go, don't tell anyone that you are a noble of the four families. I will keep the ring and your notebook until you are able to protect yourself. You should thank Evelin for protecting you although I don't see why shes doing that, anyway."

Jason pushed Emrys towards his partner and said with a smile, "You're lucky, Reicher. This here is Emrys, and he has amnesia. Help him with everything he needs."

Reicher, confused, wanted to say something, but Jason ran away. "That damn idiot, ugh. Come in, I'll show you where you'll sleep."
