Kayn had to close his eyes and calm himself down for a short while as the vast emptiness of space left him a little overwhelmed. It was one thing to think about what it would be like and an entirely separate thing to actually experience it.
Maybe this was why the experts of Talgonoth had perished when they went to space rather than being unable to survive. Maybe they weren't able to cope with the fear and dread that were trying to take over Kayn's mind at his insignificance in the vast emptiness that was outer space.
He had also made the mistake of exiting the Earth's atmosphere behind the planet, so there was little light that made it to him from the sun. It was incredibly dark, very reminiscent of Nyx's temple, he could spot the light of stars and other planets in the distance though.
If Kayn paid close enough attention to the blips of light in the distance, he could see that some were of differing colors such as red, blue, orange, white, and even green. Now that he wasn't as focused on the vast, empty, loneliness of space, it was actually quite beautiful.
Suddenly, he had the urge to assume his meditative posture and begin to circulate the Void Star technique and just float for a while. Almost as if he was in a trance, he went through the motions and as soon as he closed his eyes, he became lost in the feeling of calmness while his body aimlessly drifted in the space surrounding Earth.
…
Eventually, Kayn opened his eyes only to realize that he was no longer in outer space, at least not the outer space he was previously moving around in. Here it was completely dark, and there was no light to be found anywhere.
Panic about where he was at, how far he had drifted, and how long he was in his trance-like state began to set in, but before he could even start to examine the situation in depth, a deep and raspy voice which sounded like it hadn't spoken in years entered his ears.
"Calm child, you are within my space, there is nothing for you to fear here."
Kayn started to blink his eyes rapidly and even pinched himself to see if he was actually awake or just inside of a mindscape, but no matter what he tried, the situation didn't change. As if waiting for him to orient himself to his new situation, the other being stayed silent for a few moments until it looked like his guest had accepted the situation.
"Were you not looking for me? Why do you seem so surprised that you ended up within a separated space when that's exactly what you were searching for?" The being asked.
"Huh? I was looking for…wait, Chaos?!" Kayn asked, because if this was true, then he might finally be able to go home! He became so excited that he almost shouted his question only to notice that he couldn't hear himself here.
"Please refrain from talking so loudly while you are in my space. You may not hear how loud you are, but I certainly do. I am both this entire space you are in and not at the same time. But yes, I was known by the name Chaos at one point in time.
"I can smell his stench on you, but I also feel a part of my power within you, so tell me, who are you and why are you here?" Chaos asked. The feeling Kayn got from his speech was both resentment and interest at the same time.
"His stench? Your power? What do you mean?" Kayn returned questions back to him rather than answering as he truly was confused.
"It is faint but you cannot hide that foul smell within your soul from me. My power is the void, I am the start of the practice and the origin of all who use it within in this vast universe. Tell me who and what you are before I decide you're not worth my time or letting you live due to your corrupted soul."
Chaos's anger was almost visible as Kayn noticed changes within the space he was now floating in, but he was still confused as to having a corrupted soul and that it smelled like someone else.
Then it occurred to him, maybe Chaos knew the being he had been working for, and that the Sin and Virtues that he had integrated as part of his soul once belonged to that man. It made sense as he was able to have some influence over them as if they were not fully a part of Kayn.
Trying not to distract himself for too long just in the case Chaos lost his patience, Kayn opened his mouth to finally answer the questions he was asked.
"My name is Kayn. I'm from a different world than Earth, but was sent here by accident. All I want to do is to get home and your daughter Nyx mentioned that I should visit you as I am connected with you through the void element. As for what I am, I am half Obsidian Void Dragon, but there are not many left of us to my knowledge, even in Celestial worlds."
"Not many left huh? I wonder just how many of my descendants have perished due to my nature running through them. People fear what they do not understand, leading to hate and murder. Though, part of it could have been that man's doing, but I can't say for certain as I haven't left this place since my defeat, so I have long lost track of time.
"It is sad that child's legacy has almost come to an end though. He spawned from the union of myself and the Primordial Dragon, we tried many times for an offspring who inherited my unique characteristics, but it was all in vain until that child. Haaa…how long has it been since I lost and holed myself up in here?"
Chaos didn't speak for a little while as he seemed to be regretting something, and Kayn didn't speak either as he knew he should keep his mouth shut unless asked to speak.
"Okay, I understand what you are now, but your name doesn't satisfy the who you are or why you have his smell within your soul if you are one of mine. I doubt he would have had offspring with any of my children, or any real children at that. So how is it that you contain a part of what made that bastard who he was?"
Kayn gulped as he tried to think of how he should word this in order to both not be killed and receive Chaos's help.
"If you're talking about the Sin and Virtues within my soul that is because I made a deal with someone. Then another being who I don't know the name of asked me to collect the remaining ones I didn't have in return for reducing the negative effects that came along with the power they granted.
"However, I can confidently say that two of these, one Sin and one Virtue, are now fully mine and he no longer has control over them. He only wanted me to collect the Sins at first due to the rebellious nature of the child he created to hold them, and he was unaware of the other child giving up their powers as well.
"So, I am collecting the Sins as part of my deal with him, but I am trying to find the Virtues as well since they somehow correspond with each other and are able to cancel out the negatives of each other.
"I have no intentions of being his lap dog though, I am doing this for myself and my loved ones. In order to be able to protect them from anyone or anything I need power, but I'm stranded on this planet with no way to get home."
Kayn tried his best to make his actions and dealings with the individual justifiable by trying to make Chaos pity him, but it wasn't a great feeling and made him feel a bit shameless.
"Sins and Virtues…maybe he got tired of being unstoppable or something happened which required him to split part of himself into two halves in the form of children who could hold the power. It makes sense that both would eventually try to give their powers up though.
"Separated, those powers are chains which will forever hold one back, but together, unfathomable power is available to the one who holds it. He isn't the type to let something that belongs to him fall into another's hands that he cannot control though. The fact that you've stolen hold over and combined a single of these powers has probably upset him quite a bit.
"Fortunately for you, he is a being of his word and will not lie to you about what he wants from you, but I would be careful once everything is finished as he will probably aim to take back what once belonged to him.
"Moving on, since you are not truly one of his and from what you say, you have no intentions of being one of his servants, I will pass on some of my knowledge to you including a way for you to get back to your home world. It is your right as one of my descendants after all."
"Tha-" Kayn began to celebrate and thank Chaos, but was interrupted with words that dropped his mood back down instantly.
"However, know that at your current realm you have a 100% chance of dying while trying to get home using this method. Therefore, as a failed ancestor, I will try to make amends for some of my shortcomings by helping you out a little bit. I would send you off myself, but I don't know where your destination is nor am I willing to risk him finding where I'm hiding. Are you willing to risk your life by accepting some of my power and knowledge?"
"Yes."
Kayn didn't think long as he knew this would probably be his only chance to find a way home from Earth and he wasn't willing to risk having to spend the rest of his life there or trying to traverse space to find Talgonoth.
"Very well, let's begin." Chaos spoke as Kayn prepared himself for what was to come.
