A long, long time ago, there existed the Sands of Desire, calcareous granules capable of making humans' most intimate wishes come true. Those who possessed the gift to manipulate them were called Djinn.

These beings, gathered in their Sanctuary, the Masjid al-Djinn, guided and protected humanity. But, like humans, desires could be corrupted, and when this happened, the Sands of Desire would invade the body and soul of their host, giving rise to a creature made entirely of darkness—a Tar.

However, as the only ones who could purify the Sands of Desire, the Djinn were essential. Knowing this, Spectrum, the most powerful of the Tars, led a massive attack on the Masjid al-Djinn.

And so, the Djinn were wiped out…
