Chereads / Ark: Sol Alpha / Chapter 26 - Sharing A Secret

Chapter 26 - Sharing A Secret

The reason Sol proposed to return to the sixth tribe had nothing to do with his safety, instead, it had to do with the contents of the message from the system. The quest details confirmed his suspicions concerning spies living in the sixth tribe castle, then he made no move against them because he assumed they were Ark members working as spies to other Ark tribes, but now he knew they were fox spirits masquerading as Ark members, he was determined to eradicate all of them.

"How can you differentiate a fox spirit from an Ark family member?" Sol asked while looking out the window of the carriage.

The question left the old butler stunned as numerous emotions flickered through his face in mere seconds before finally speaking.

"Are you trying to say…" His voice trailed off.

"Yes, there are fox spirits back home. I'm not heading back because I need safety, I'm heading back home to kill them all." Sol flashed a glance at Chamberlain.

The old butler was shocked, and what he felt more disturbing was that Sol didn't share this information with the instructors. He was certain this child knew more than he was telling them.

"What do you know?" Chamberlain asked with a stern look.

Sol observed his facial expression for a while in silence before letting out a sigh. His secret was important, but this old man was the only person he could trust to be by his side till the end. Chamberlain needed to understand what was going on to be able to help him properly.

"It's all in here." Sol pulled out the sixth tribe Kahi'k's journal and threw it to the old man.

"This…" The old man muttered in shock.

He had kept this Journal safe and given it to Sol after he woke up, just like the former Kahi'k had requested, but he never once opened it. Each time he saw Sol reading, he was curious to ask what was written in it, but he restrained himself and always looked the other way.

"Is- Is it really okay if read this?" He asked with a tone of uncertainty.

"Yea... Go ahead, you are the only one I can trust, so it's necessary you understand what's going on." Sol shrugged.

Realizing how much trust had in him, the old butler shivered, tears welling up in his eyes. He always believed a time would come when Sol would need a younger butler to take his place, but this is a sign that Sol had never considered replacing him.

He restrained his emotions and began reading the journal as the carriage rode down the dark mountainous path leading out of the academy.

About half an hour later, the carriage rode into the sixth tribe castle, and it was already 2 am. An eerie silence existed in the carriage throughout the journey, but Sol kept himself entertained by the constant changes in the facial expression of Chamberlain. While he suspected this old man was powerful, it was amusing seeing how clearly his emotions flashed across his face like a child.

He considered this the mark of an honest man.

Maids were lined up in front of the castle and bowed as Sol and Chamberlain walked in, their eyes gazing at the bandages wrapped around Sol's chest. Sol shot them a glance as he walked past, but it was enough for him to take note of their facial expressions.

The two walked in silence until they reached Sol's room and as soon as they entered, the old butler shut the door and locked it, his eyes widened as he looked at Sol.

"You… You are an Ark Original, a pioneer of an entirely new Ark tribe." He muttered in shock.

"That plus I can wield all the power of the other Ark tribes since the powers of the six-finger generals are derived from the nether lord." Sol nodded while walking towards the veranda.

Old man Chamberlain followed him to the windy veranda while trying to construct his next question, but his mind was a bit chaotic.

"This means the fox spirits are actually after you…" He said with a deep frown.

"Yep." Sol nodded, but he was strangely calm about it. "Old man, I need to get rid of the seal…"

Chamberlain frowned when he heard this. The instructors had told him what happened during the combat class. Trying to tap into his true bloodline abilities triggered the seal, and he knew this was frustrating for Sol.

"I am sorry I don't know how to help. The seal has never been used on anyone else we could study in recent time, and all those who suffered the same fate as you died not long after the seal was placed on them. You are the first survivor." The old butler lowered his head shamefully. He wished he could do more for his young master but there were things beyond his control.

Even if he knew how to remove the seal and the other races found out, there may be a war that would lead to the complete annihilation of the sixth tribe.

"I have the power of the nether lord and I can't use it. Isn't that crazy?" Sol smiled bitterly and the old man only nodded.

A brief silence fell upon them as they allowed the cool breeze to cool their bodies for a while.

"How do you plan to deal with this problem?" Chamberlain asked. "Until a fox spirit decides to show itself, it's nearly impossible to detect them."

Sol sighed at this and pushed his hair back while numerous thoughts ran through his mind. If he couldn't find them, the best way was to get them to come to him, then use whoever they catch to find the rest. The only reason he killed the fox spirit in the academy was because he was trying to avoid a situation where they would find out the truth from her.

"Since they are desperate to take my life, I will give them the chance to do so. I'll be the bait" Sol said with a cruel smile spreading across his face.
