Chereads / Apocalypse: A Gathering of Beauties in My Base / Chapter 37 - Efficiency at its Best

Chapter 37 - Efficiency at its Best

The few zombies wandering in the neighborhood's garden were easily dealt with by Dylan and his team.

After clearing out one building, Dylan realized it was a waste of time.

The interior space was small, and they had to gather supplies while also defending against zombies.

What's more, these elderly people were living day by day, with minimal stockpiles at home.

They preferred fresh food, buying and cooking on the spot. Except for medicines, there wasn't much else in their homes.

And the medicines weren't needed by Dylan and his group.

Dylan thought for a moment, then suddenly his eyes lit up as he looked at Jodie.

"Jodie, take out your flute! Play a square dance tune and see if we can lure out those zombie old ladies!"

Everyone looked at Dylan in surprise! What a magical idea!

"What's that song called? 'The Most Dazzling Ethnic Wind,' yes, that's the one. Old ladies love it, come on, play!"

Jodie chuckled, "Those are outdated square dance tunes! Nowadays, the old ladies are into 'Old Dreams'!"

Dylan awkwardly smiled, "Is that so? Well then, let's go with 'Old Dreams.' Blow it hard, try to get all the old ladies in the neighborhood to hear!"

"Okay, I'll give it a try!"

Jodie took out her flute, placed it against her lips, and the melodious flute version of 'Old Dreams' began to play.

Sure enough, as soon as the music started, the entire neighborhood became lively.

From the nearby buildings, Dylan could already hear the restless banging of the zombies on doors.

In no time, nearly two hundred zombie old ladies had gathered in the neighborhood garden square.

Some of the old ladies even held up broken door frames. In these old neighborhoods, the doors were made of wood, so they couldn't withstand the frenzy of these turned zombies.

They surrounded Jodie, and as the music began, they started dancing, surprisingly coordinated.

Indeed, square dancing had become ingrained in their blood.

Dylan saw that the timing was just about right. He found a suitable position and prepared to start harvesting.

He pushed aside one of the zombies, an old lady, who was standing in the front and took her place.

The zombie old lady was momentarily thrown off by Dylan's interruption and suddenly couldn't keep up with the rhythm.

She became infuriated with embarrassment. The young man dares to compete with me for a spot!

The zombie old lady was the first to regain her ferocious state and lunged forward with her mouth wide open.

Dylan struck down with his knife, instantly killing her.

Sigh! Even turned into zombies, they still want to compete with the young ones for positions.

 Is that interesting?

This group of zombies was sliced and diced by Dylan and his team in less than half an hour, like cutting through fruit.

Dylan nodded in satisfaction. This efficiency was incredible!

The female guard who had been following them was truly shaken by this scene.

The strength of Dylan and his team exceeded her imagination.

She became more convinced that her decision to stay in the villa area and watch the gates was the right one.

It was better to be around such a powerful group of people than to be alone.

Even though they might see themselves as weak and useless, she would strive to become stronger and be a part of their team.

That way, no one would dare to bully her again.

So, she gathered her courage and approached Dylan nervously, asking, "Um, can you lend me a knife? I... I want to..."

"Are you thinking of gathering supplies?"

"Yes."

Dylan handed her the Magic Heaven Knife.

"Here, make sure to come back before we finish collecting the crystals!"

The female guard took the knife, bowed to Dylan, and hurriedly ran into the nearest building.

Of course, Dylan and his team wouldn't waste time going door-to-door to collect supplies anymore. It was more practical to go straight to a supermarket or mall.

About half an hour later, the female guard returned with half a bag of rice and half a bag of noodles.

It was just in time as Dylan and his team had finished collecting all the crystals.

The female guard came over and took out a crystal from her pocket. "Here, is this useful for you guys? I saw you were all collecting them, so I took it out!"

Dylan looked at the crystal in her hand, somewhat surprised.

"Did you kill any stray zombies in the building?"

The female guard nodded. "Yes! I happened to encounter one, so I followed your example and killed it!"

Dylan began to regard this woman with a bit more respect. It seemed she wasn't entirely useless.

She knew how to learn and had a bit of courage.

"What's your name?" Dylan hadn't known her name before; she had never caught his attention."Kimberley!"

"Kimberley? Alright! Keep this crystal for yourself. Later, I'll have them teach you how to use it."

"Oh, okay! Here's your knife back!"

Kimberley could tell that Dylan didn't really value her crystal, so she obediently kept it and returned the knife to Dylan.

"Since you have the guts to kill zombies, you keep it for now. If you get a chance, practice killing a few more zombies!"

Dylan didn't take back the knife. He felt that since she was so eager to learn, he should give her a chance to improve herself.

Kimberley glanced gratefully at Dylan and said, "Thank you."

The group returned to the off-road camper and continued to the next neighborhood.

On the way, Kimberley learned how to absorb crystals. Seeing that the time on her arm doubled, she felt a slight improvement in her energy and spirit.

"What's the purpose of this time?" she asked, curious.

"I'll explain it to you slowly later. Just remember, don't let the time reset to zero!"

Dylan didn't give her too much explanation. At this point, she couldn't be considered a member of their team yet; at most, it was just an employer-employee relationship.

For the rest of the morning, Dylan and his team cleared out three more old neighborhoods, collecting over 600 crystals in total.

Kimberley also killed three zombies and obtained three crystals.

Jodie's mental exhaustion was severe, and her effectiveness was diminishing.

Dylan decided to continue the cleanup tomorrow.

In the afternoon, they planned to visit a large shopping mall to gather supplies.

At noon, they rested in the camper for a while, had some food, and Dylan unreservedly absorbed all the crystals they had obtained.

When the crystals were reduced to 300, his time energy had surpassed the 1,000-year mark.

His physique had undergone earth-shaking changes. Now, he would no longer fear ordinary weapons.

In his previous life, it took him ten years to accumulate over 1,000 years of time energy. Now, with just over half a month since his rebirth, he was about to reach that level of strength. This progress was nothing short of miraculous.

At this rate, Dylan believed it wouldn't be long before he broke through the ten-thousand-year mark and reached a higher level of strength.

By then, he would be able to walk with unparalleled confidence in Bluewater Bay.

Dylan chuckled at the thought.

Later, Dylan distributed the remaining 300 crystals to Alberta, Dorothy, and Jodie.

After absorbing the crystals, their time energy also surpassed the hundred-year mark.
