This time, the cleaning continued down the line from the villa that was cleared last time.
Compared to yesterday, today's progress was much faster.
Firstly, both Dorothy and Alberta had significantly improved their physical condition.
Secondly, both of them had overcome the psychological barrier, and their resilience had grown stronger.
As time went on, the three of them became more and more synchronized in their cooperation, and dealing with three zombies simultaneously became no problem at all.
Dorothy also took this opportunity to use her lightning ability. Although her level was too low to kill the zombies in one strike, she could stun or knock them down, making it easier to finish them off.
The areas hit always turned into a charred state, with a tantalizing scent of meat occasionally wafting through.
"I swear, can you guys smell that? Smells like electric barbecue," Dylan teased.
"Ugh, could you not be so gross!" Alberta glared at him, unamused.
They finally stopped after clearing up to the 48th villa.
Overall, they had probably killed around 300 zombies today, which was quite a good harvest.
"Let's clear two more villas and head back. This time, we'll split up. You two clean one villa together!" Dylan said, heading towards a villa further away.
Alberta and Dorothy had no choice but to grit their teeth and enter the nearest villa.
As soon as they entered the villa's entrance, they encountered a Teddy bear unexpectedly.
Originally a cute dog, it now looked miserable.
Covered in wounds, its lower lip torn, revealing sinister teeth.
Needless to say, this Teddy bear had also turned into a zombie.
As soon as this Teddy bear touched them, it let out a low growl, opening its rotten mouth to lunge at them.
Dorothy didn't dare to slack off; dogs were different from humans, and even as zombies, dogs were agile.
Blocking Alberta behind her, Dorothy skewered the Teddy bear zombie that pounced on them.
Since it wasn't a fatal blow, this Teddy bear zombie exhibited the characteristics it had in life.
Continuously howling.
The sound was piercing, the cries incessant.
Alberta cursed silently at this damn Teddy bear.
Swiftly raising her magic sword, she plunged it into its forehead.
The Teddy bear finally quieted down, but the commotion earlier had already attracted the attention of nearby zombies.
At this moment, Dylan heard the noise and rushed over, but he could already hear many fast footsteps converging towards their location.
"Oh no! Retreat!" Dylan sensed the situation was grim and shouted to Alberta and Dorothy.
But it was too late!Only to see a group of dogs running towards them from the front.
And behind them, another group of dogs blocked their way.
Dylan cursed inwardly. Damn! We cleaned so many villas, and not a single pet zombie dog in sight. Looks like they all decided to roam in packs.
Looking at the groups of dogs on both sides, there were Golden Retrievers, Teddy bears, Pomeranians, Labradors, Border Collies, Alaskans, Huskies, Akitas, Corgis, German Shepherds, mutts, mongrels, and even a damn Pekingese!
It was a complete zombie dog mobilization!
Some had their eyeballs popped out, some had their noses bitten with holes, some had layers of skin torn off, exposing fresh flesh, and some even had their intestines trailing on the ground.
It was truly a sight too gruesome to bear!
However, Dylan didn't have time to sympathize with them. If so many zombie dogs were to attack simultaneously, Alberta and Dorothy would be trapped here.
Suddenly, the two groups of zombie dogs seemed to have seen their masters and madly rushed towards Dylan and the two people inside the villa respectively!
"Quick, close the door!" Dylan hurriedly shouted to Alberta and Dorothy.
But the front door of the villa was already broken, so Dorothy could only block the rushing zombie dogs at the entrance.
Meanwhile, Dylan quickly took out an explosion-proof shield from his space and used it to block the oncoming zombie dogs. Then, seizing the opportunity, he swung his sword and directly chopped off half of the Border Collie's head that was charging at him.
The explosion-proof shield made banging sounds as it was hit, while Dylan seized the chance to harvest the zombie dogs one by one.
Suddenly, Dylan saw a German Shepherd leap over Dorothy's head and enter the villa, startling Alberta and Dorothy.
"Dorothy, use your lightning to blast it!" Dylan hastily shouted.
Dorothy snapped back to reality, seeing the German Shepherd rolling on the ground and about to pounce again. She quickly released a bolt of lightning towards it.
"Crack... Bang!" The lightning directly hit the German Shepherd's head, making it collapse to the ground.
Alberta quickly moved in for the kill.
The sound of the electric shock seemed to further agitate the zombie dogs outside the door, and they became even more frenzied in rushing in.
Dorothy quickly retreated and used lightning to strike another Akita attempting to jump in. Then, she felt herself nearly exhausted.
"I can't go on, bro, I'm out of strength!" Dorothy weakly exclaimed.
Originally, Dorothy couldn't unleash lightning many times. Being able to do it twice was already her limit.
Dylan thrust his sword, piercing the forehead of a Corgi, and shouted loudly, "Dorothy, fall back, Alberta, take over!
I'm coming over right away!"Alberta didn't hesitate; she went straight ahead and chopped off the head of a Husky that had just shown its head. However, immediately after, a Golden Retriever and a Labrador jumped into Alberta's side of the villa, causing even Dylan to panic.
Following that, an Alaskan Malamute also leaped in!
Dylan saw the situation and realized that Dorothy was already exhausted, and Alberta was struggling to hold her ground. Meanwhile, he was surrounded by zombie dogs and couldn't break free.
With a swing of his big sword, Dylan simultaneously killed the two zombie dogs in front of him and then rushed towards the villa without regard for his safety.
At this critical moment, suddenly, a pleasant sound of instruments rang out.
The dogs, who were originally snarling and extremely aggressive, suddenly seemed as if they were possessed, turning their heads in unison and running towards the source of the instrument sound.
Dylan was stunned and looked up; the sound was coming from the windows of the second floor of the adjacent villas.
And there, standing at that moment, was a woman playing the flute.
Dylan's first reaction was that she was a survivor.
As for why these zombie dogs would run towards her direction upon hearing her flute sound, Dylan had no idea.
The woman took the flute out of her mouth and said to Dorothy and Alberta, "Quick, run! I can only distract them for a short while!"
Dylan understood that this woman had helped them out of a tight spot at a critical moment.
He clasped his fists in gratitude towards the woman and quickly went over to pull Alberta and Dorothy towards their own villa.
Once the flute-playing woman saw them safely escape, she patted her chest in relief.
Then, she immediately closed the windows and returned to her own bed.
Dylan and his companions returned to their villa.
Today was indeed too dangerous, and his trusted chef, Dorothy, had almost lost her life.
If it weren't for the flute-playing woman's intervention, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
It seemed that they couldn't afford to be careless in the future; they needed to strengthen their defenses and rapidly improve their strength.
Thinking about the flute-playing woman's figure, Dylan couldn't help but feel curious. What kind of magic did she possess to be able to lure away zombies? She must have awakened special abilities.
Tomorrow, he must visit the woman's villa to understand more. If possible, Dylan wanted to recruit her into their group. After all, her abilities were crucial for Dylan.
...
After each of them took a shower, Dylan didn't let Dorothy cook because she was feeling a bit weak. He took out plenty of instant foods from his space, such as instant hot pot, ham sausages, spicy strips, and so on, and put them all on the table.
