A flaming piece of wood falls off the ceiling, and I hardly dodge it in time. There isn't anyone in here and even if they had merely fainted from the heat and smoke, I would have found them. The roof is starting to collapse. I have to get out of here as soon as possible.
As I descend the stairs, my heart skips. There is a dull pain in there: at our bond.
Raula? Could she have insisted on coming in after all? I don't find her in the living room so I start wondering if she came up the stairs when I was still checking one of the rooms upstairs. I would be able to trace out her scent in here but the smell of fire and smoke wouldn't make it easy.
"Raula," I call her through our bond, tagging at it. I don't feel her there. Something must have happened to her!
