By five o'clock, the typhoon had temporarily ceased, but the downpour continued.
Rainwater on the walls was so plentiful it resembled a waterfall, and the clouds in the sky were like a vast river and sea with an open fissure, releasing floods upon the ground.
During breakfast, Gu Ran used small talk to inquire if anyone had had dreams last night.
"I did," said someone from logistics, " dreamed about running non-stop. As for what I was doing, um... I can't remember."
"I dreamed that a patient was in trouble; it scared me to death," a staff member from the social work department still looked troubled.
"Yeah, I did, no, maybe I didn't. Anyway, I kept hearing rain, so I'm not sure whether I was dreaming or just couldn't sleep," the chefs said.
"How could we possibly dream? We were on duty!" claimed the duty nurses matter-of-factly, "Mr. Gu, why are you asking this?"
"Just curious; phones have 'dream receipts,'" Gu Ran said.
