"That's the inn we're staying at, we'll go park the car now," Heitian Jin said as they drove past the inn.
Gu Ran looked out the window. The car was moving slowly, allowing him a clear view. The inn was quaint, a wooden building that captured both a sense of history and modern finesse.
"They used tiles for the roof," Gege noted, her right hand forming a canopy as she leaned against the window.
"My old house back home also had a tiled roof," Gu Ran said.
"Does your house have a bamboo fence too? And these pine trees?" Gege challenged, almost as if she owned the inn.
"My house doesn't have a bamboo fence, but it has living bamboo. No pine trees, but two fruit trees: one peach and one date," he replied.
"Is your family really poor?"
"No savings," he admitted.
"Oh, so really poor."
It was said succinctly.
Gege then asked Heitian Jin, "Heitian, does Xianggen have a fireworks festival?"
