After Matsunai Yuto reenacted the scene, Nanahara Takeshi and his two companions bid farewell and left, getting into Nakano Eri's sedan. As Nakano Eri was buckling her seatbelt, she asked as if it were of no particular concern, "So we're completely ruling out Matsunai Yuto as a suspect just like that?"

Her question didn't imply that she suspected Matsunai Yuto was the killer. She didn't understand crime solving but simply followed along to keep an eye on Nanahara Takeshi, making sure he didn't mess around. After all, he had a history of misconduct, and his unrestrained approach had already left a deep impression on the police station.

She just thought that Nanahara Takeshi's exclusion of the prime suspect was a bit too frivolous. Based on her experience observing detectives handle cases, excluding a prime suspect usually required solid evidence and intense meeting discussions before they gave up the chase. The procedure was very strict; how could it be so arbitrary?
